Ya there's so many to choose from, I'll pick one anyway. hmmm...I'll go with John Terry, he has amazing heading skills.
The rules of soccer are very simple, basically it is this: if it moves, kick it. If it doesn’t move, kick it until it does.

When Sol Campbell is in Arsenal's defense, it's very hard to crack. His presence makes him one of the best.

Terry is immense. Ferdinand is exceptional. Heinze is great. Ashley Cole is great a getting forward as well as defending solidly. Carragher has shown this season just how good he really is at defending. Campbell is a rock for Arsenal.
Ledley King is certainly good, but hasn't had the chance to truly prove himself at the top level (though he did well in the Euro's when he played). Hyppia is also great... though perhaps not what he was a few seasons ago.
I would say have to say Terry. He has had an unbelievable season for Chelsea.

Terry Vs. Carragher tommorow, along with Lampard Vs. Gerrard...for most effective...Carragher got best defender last leg hands down
