What also amazes me is his ability to finish. He had such good composure after faking out 3 players in front of the goal and struck the ball cleanly without hesitation.2brown347 wrote:I swear watching him sometimes it seems like the balls just moving and he's just chasing it. Naw poor defending for that first goal. the defender's were caught ball watching, they needed to step to the ball.
JK messi is a beast. Wonderful, wonderful performance. I would love to see him do well at the world cup. Let's hope Maradona can get that system working.

Let me tell you I'm not the only one that believes that goal wasn't as good as people put it... I posted that day, that Nasri's goal was a combination of lack of comunication, ball watching, everyone thought that the person next to him was gonna stick the player, etc..... Scottyboy agreed, maybe now he doesn't remember but he explicitly posted he agreed on everything except one thing, that wasn't the matter discussed..
Now that I watch it, it was a good goal, I still believe the defenders could have done something about it, and I don't think Nasri would do that against a world class defence like Man U, Chelsea, etc..
On the other hand, Messi's goal's where breath-taking, he reflected awesome control, great dribbling, and literally broke the defenders spine's with those cuts.. something Nasri' didn't do....
I'm not a douchebag, I'm realistic therefor I wanna express my opinion, that Messi's 2 goals (the 2 good ones) deserve all the hype, all the talk, all the wonder, fantastic goals.. Nasri's on the other hand, bit overrated. but hey that's just my opinion...... Just wanted to make sure and clear, that I can recognize gold when I see it, but I also have an eye for fools gold

Messi's = Brilliant
Nasri's = good, got a little help from the defense (MO)
Back on topic...
Did anyone see Cr9 and Higuian hugging before the match??? I think the media made up "the fight" the two had..
Shahensa, atleast no one can say now that "Messi never wins game's single handledly like Cr9"

Hehe Panchester, I was mostly making a joke.
I though Messi's goal was better than Nasri's for sure, but hey, any time a player beats multiple players it's easy to blame it on poor defending, even in this case. But I'm not really one that likes to make excuses.
Barca played Valencia right? (I don"t remember) If so, I'd say defensively they're not so different class wise from Porto.
(just realized I'm arguing for arguments sake, so ... moving on)
Messi sure is great. A messi hattrick really does bring a smile to my face.

Same here, I just don't understand why he doesn't do it with Argentina :SMessi sure is great. A messi hattrick really does bring a smile to my face.

Because he needs a team effort to enable his brilliance, and Argentina lacks the chemistry to give him the type of play that benefits him. That's why no Argentina players live up to what they do in their clubs, Messi just gets called out the most, because of obvious reasons.panchester07 wrote:Same here, I just don't understand why he doesn't do it with Argentina :SMessi sure is great. Yeah I noticed that, it could be staged though who knows...Did anyone see Cr9 and Higuian hugging before the match??? I think the media made up "the fight" the two had..
Valdano said yesterday that they want Higuain to not only renew his contract, but also to end his career at Madrid. I hope to God Perez doesn't buy Rooney.
On a different note everyone's pretty good with women when it comes to hookers... well except the sham-wow guy.

Maybe they're in a relationship. It'd make sense couples fight, couples hug, Higuian likes girls, cr7 is a girl..Evan wrote:Yeah I noticed that, it could be staged though who knows...Did anyone see Cr9 and Higuian hugging before the match??? I think the media made up "the fight" the two had..

serious note, I wouldn't look into it. It's just as likely that the hug was staged as the fight made up. We probably won't know until one of them leaves the club and writes his bio.

Could be, I think other players play better with Argentina than Messi.. What I'm saying, other players, play similar or a bit less well with Argentina than with their clubs.. Where as Messi, you can see the difference clearly, with out having to be an expert.. You can say most of it is chemistry, but even when Barca plays bad and is "chemistry-less" Messi gets the ball, beats one or two, and makes something happen...2brown347 wrote:Because he needs a team effort to enable his brilliance, and Argentina lacks the chemistry to give him the type of play that benefits him. I mean, how different can it be.. On his second goal I think it was, that cross from Henry wasn't good at all, he was running and Henry gave the ball backwards, he had to accomodate his body, take a fantastic touch, and then cut another player, and finish with brilliance... Did he need any chemistry to score this individual pearl?? Or any other of his individual goals where he just slaloms through defenders and puts it away?

To be honest, Messi has started to get consistent play-time as the trequartista in Barcelona's formation recently this season. During the 08-09 season he was predominantly on the right wing. Having been thrown into that position and given the number "10" in Argentina didnt suit him as much because he wasnt used to it.panchester07 wrote:Could be, I think other players play better with Argentina than Messi.. Perhaps it is Pep's idea to help his players in the World Cup. He is definitely giving more starts to Busquets so that sergio can improve and be a participant for Spain, whereas Toure is already a starter for his respective nation. Perhaps, Pep is utilizing Messi as the classic number 10 so he can perform well and get used to that position before the World Cup takes place.
Any questions people have over Messi's performance for the Albiceleste will be answered in the World Cup. Considering his fiery form as the number 10, he wants to prove something. Hope to the Lord he doesnt get injured.

I love when people call good players "girls".I love how people feel a need to take honest disliking of a person and aquate it to jealousy.
And I was only fu**ing around with you, I'll add the smilies next time.

Their next game is May against Canada.
