yes very true. Transformers and 300 and all that are all fantasy films that are really childish and have no meaning or point to them. They are like a "one time watch forget about it" sorta film. they don;t make u think nor do they stay on ur mind.Rome_Leader wrote:Transformers is good, but FAR from contesting as a Top 50 movie of all time. You guys don't know movies.
has anyone seen apocalypto? i saw it last night on the computer for free!

it was good but i thought there were too many scenes where all I did was watch the slaves walking....but other than that it niiiiiiiice. any opinions?

In accordance with good movie standards... They don't always have to. That's what's called a basement concept movie, one that you have to think about and likely read into to "get" or enjoy. But surface level movies that you can understand at a shot, with a simple plotline, also known as high concept movies... Well, there's some gems of those, too. Ever hear of Jaws and Star Wars? They're high concept movies.Francis8 wrote:yes very true. Transformers and 300 and all that are all fantasy films that are really childish and have no meaning or point to them. I would have thought that Basement concept would have been the superficial ones...
But regardless I will allways prefer the ones without just a simple plotline, funnily enough the ones that do this well are usually the ones based on books that have been carried out well.
Ex. LOTR, Terabithia, Children of men etc.

It's hard to understand, I know.Hugh wrote:I would have thought that Basement concept would have been the superficial ones...

However, there are also a large volume of book-based movies that suck. Out of those, as movies, if I were to be ranking them on an all time list, LOTR would probably be in the 20's, Children of Men not far behind, and Bridge to Terabithia would possibly be back in the 80-90's region.
