I think this last spring I pulled a 2:25 at a track meet. I was 14 at the time (still am).

You haven't told us how much you train or play with your team.
2:40mins is pretty good for an untrained person but you would be looking for at least 2:20 by the time you are 15/16 if you train 4/5x a week.

I ran a 2:25, and I didn't do any training for it at all actually. All I had was slightly after season form (so not at peak form) so it was still pretty good. I guess practicing that run at high intensity is really the only way you can improve this time.

Sorry rzadzinski, that post was aimed that the first poster. I should have made that clear.
Having said that, 2:25 is very good for a 14yr old - well done!
(By the way - you can improve your 800m time by training for football as both rely on similar energy systems etc.)

I'm 16 and I am right at 2 minutes basically. like i ran a 2:08 i believe at practice one day. But i ran a 2:12 when i was 15 and before that i hadn't ran anything over a lap so i couldn't help you with the 14 year old stats. I ran several miles a day for a couple of months though with the track team 4 days a week.

i just recently had to improve my speed endurance for mountain rescue service
to improve 800m time you have to practice jogging for 1-2 hours almost everyday, and then run short distances at high pace...
then as you progress these short distances will get longer...
this works...

It means you're on par with the Guide Goddess with something. But you've got 2 years on her, so...

The lowest time is 1:58 and that is really the only one that'd be dificult although it's definately not impossible. People can run under 4 minute miles and that's a 2 minute 800m (times two).

I just tried it now, and with snow resistance and everything, I got around 2:34 for 800m. I think that's pretty good, considering I rarely run on a regular basis. It takes me around 4:12 to run a mile also.

most young fit pros could easily beat 2 minutes but yes alot of older 30+ players may stuggle
