Inspirational Quotes/Songs Thread.

Post by BuzzingBee » 26 Jul 2008, 18:40

Well i already know they're are a couple of topics on it ,but i didn't want to like open up old old topics and get yelled at,so i thought i might add these here,to ease all the post's and combine them into one i guess.

US WOMEN'S NATIONAL SOCCER TEAM:

The Greatest Team,You've never heard of includes:a tattooed surfer,a scholar, a college football fanatic,a humanitarian, and trucker-hat-wearing scuba diver. The scholar gets the humanitarian to run more sprints in practice. The scuba diver gets the football fanatic to relax. The surfer teaches the scholar how to well, surf. This team's don't trigger yelling or backstabbing or ball hogging or losses. This team's differences make the "The Greatest Team You've Never Heard Of Stronger"

The Greatest Team You've Never Heard Of: Together has missed out on 13 proms,74 birthdays,21 Thanksgivings, and 989 boyfriends. And they don't regret it. They know why they give up these things. They know that game-changing slide tackles and goals and championships and having a second family and doing it all for each other are the rewards. They know to put the team above all else. They are the greatest team you've never heard of.

This one motivates me:

Somewhere there is some girl practicing, and when you meet her on the field she will beat you, unless you are that girl,

One i got from the TV series Dream Team:

It's only a game of football,we win it,we lose it,people who think that,we do anything,we give anything to be out on that pitch playing, and we dread the day its snatched away from us

One i made up
:Life doesn't stop,so neither should I : It's life, its art,i am paying the price to play, and I'm making a deal of sacrifices because i love it,all that hard work isn't going to be on pause,I'm not going to throw it away and give up,i don't complain because the pros don't,because if I'm complaining,it means I'm not trying hard enough and it doesn't matter if you had a bad day,or your sore,or your boyfriend broke up with you,its a different story on the field,in which you create.

whoa where to start?

ok

I'm living a dream I never want to wake up from - Cristiano Ronaldo

No fear, no distractions. The ability to let that which does not matter…truly slide - From Fight Club

It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything - Tyler Durden

The World's a stage, Become Legendary

You can do anything you set your mind to, man - Eminem

What we do in life, will echo through eternity - From Gladiator

It feels like no-one can beat me - Outro 'Till I Collapse

theres no point living if you don't to feel alive

Only when you truly feel the ultimate low's, can you truly live the ultimate high

All i ever search for in life is whats always being taken away - my freedom to live

My life is full of empty promises and broken dreams

Its not our ability, but our wits that make us men

Everyday people imagine themselves how they'd like to be, all you need is the courage to just run with it, and become that image

'Some people believe football is a matter of life and death.
I'm very disappointed with that attitude.
I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.'
- Bill Shankly

The ones who want to achieve and win championships motivate themselves.

Winners never quit, and quitters never win

"For a player to be good enough to play for Liverpool, he must be prepared to run through a brick wall for me then come out fighting on the other side." - Bill Shankly

And this is just a funny one from Bill Shankly again.

Reporter: 'Mr Shankly, why is it that your teams' unbeaten run has suddenly ended ... ?' Shankly: 'Why don't you go and jump in the lake ?'

yeah that movie is like the greatest movie i have ever seen

but the first time i watched gladiator (it was on DVD) i was sitting with my girlfriend (and ex now :( ) and you know the bit at the end when the black dude buries the 2 dolls and that song is playing, he says "now we are free" or something

i literally just exploded into tears, it really was the most emotional movie i had ever seen  everytime i hear the song i just get such a shiver down my spine

i can't beleive i posted that on the web  i am such a fu**ing sap  shameful stuff

the braveheart theme tune is pretty inspirational aswell

and as for the movie...

two great quotes, and bill shankley is fu**ing legend  funny funny man

here's a few more:

life hurts, without pain without sacrifice we would have nothing

the poem 'IF'

i'll write out the whole thing

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master,
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

great great poem

Fear cannot be without hope nor hope without fear

That it will never come again is what makes life so sweet

I've learned that everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you're climbing it

Its only when we begin to die, do we truly realise what it means to live

There is no wealth but life

I am the light in the darkness, the smile of the rising sun and every little thing is gonna be alright - Bob Marely after a concert

only when things go wrong can we set them right

Adiago by Barber is a great emotional song

Newbornprodigy:

Good that you're emotional. The ladies must love that. hehe

That ''If'' poem is really nice. Football manager 2008 used it on their trailer for the game. It gave me goose bumps when I watched that.

I always follow Ali's Mantra: "I am great, but I am not the greatest."

Also 'In order for there to be a light, you have to have a darkness to put it in.' I think that speaks volumes for the many soccer/sports superstars who came from nothing to be something. (What a great kids book eh? Something From Nothing... Everybody should read that... :P)

And the last one I can think of off the top of my head is 'Conscience is the inner voice that warns us that someone, somewhere may be looking...' I have a great deal of conscience, so I'm always doing my best, whether someone is looking or not... Because someone very well might be.

If I wanted to be mean I'd give you this one:
“Quotes are nothing but inspiration for the uninspired.”
-Richard Kemph

If I wanted to be goofy I'd show you my sig 8)

Otherwise I don't have any good quotes about soccer but this one is kinda neat:
It is by the goodness of God that in our country we have those three unspeakably precious things: freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, and the prudence never to practice either.

- Mark Twain

I do like this one though:
'Some people believe football is a matter of life and death.
I'm very disappointed with that attitude.
I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.' - Bill Shankly

I've always been into combat sports like Boxing, MMA, Muay Thai. And the best advice i've heard from Pro fighters, trainers and peers is Train hard, Fight easy So I guess practice hard and the game will come easier to you.

Winning isn't everything. It's the only thing.

Humans are descended from monkeys, as opposed to gingers who are of course descended from cats.

"Pain is temporary. Quitting lasts forever." - Lance Armstrong

"An eye for eye only ends up making the whole world blind." - Mohandas Gandhi

"Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever." - Mohandas Gandhi

Enough joking around, let's get to the real quotes:

"A dictatorship would be a heck of a lot easier, there's no question about it."
George W. Bush

"I don't really think, I just walk."
Paris Hilton

"Politics gives guys so much power that they tend to behave badly around women. And I hope I never get into that."
Bill Clinton

"I get to go to lots of overseas places, like Canada."
Britney Spears

"I have opinions of my own --strong opinions-- but I don't always agree with them."
- George W. Bush
