but all of them together don't have the strength of one half of Rooney...
plus he was born in 1986 and nobody calls him wonderkind right now, he's complete player now, and maybe the most complete player in the world currently...

Actually, I disagree. He is not as good as some players such as C. Ronaldo in terms of skill, however, if you watch him play. He is very very intelligent on the pitch. His decisions, his runs are perfect. He creates opportunities on the pitch. He isnt very skillful freestyle wise, but his intellect is fantastic... just because he cant do a trick doesnt mean he isnt as good as everyone says..

of course he isnt like Pelle but he is close up there.

ive been loving rooney as of late. his goals in the cl against milan saved man u. he brought them out of a hole since ronaldo didn't feel like passing the ball that game.

Definitely not, he's an amazing striker and the best thing about him is that he doesn't dive; Rooney fights for every ball, he fights through every challenge. Rooney could play Rugby just as well as football in my opinion, and it's a great choice he's made to play football because it brings us back to a time when diving didn't exist and that all that mattered was the goals.

Yes he is very overrated , Now dont get me wrong , he can play but he hasnt scored an International Goal since 2003 , as a startiing striker and that is what you are supposed to do , that isnt cool , also . You cant say he isnt good cause he is but now you see who the best young talent at Man U is . He plays ok in the EPL but scores very rarely there to

That was an unforgettable play. At the time I was hoping Sol Cambell would go and hit him. A bit harsh I know, but that was just awful.

I'm not sure if Rooney is overrated, how is he being rated now? If it is as a world class striker then yes, I think that is a bit naive. I think he is a quality player who works his ass off for the team with admirable intensity, but at times he is lacking. He'll miss a pass here, get a bad touch there- it's just that sometimes he screws up simple plays. He has netted some absolute scorchers and shown very good skill so he clearly has the ability, but at this moment he is not one of the top few strikers in the world.

Other young players have developed into consistently great players whereas Rooney is not as reliable. His goal scoring droughts have been far too long. Back in January Sir Alex was playing Rooney on the wing to take the goal scoring pressure off of him. That is not something that you would ever expect to happen to a world class striker.

Rooney

I think Rooney is a very very goo player, but not great ... YET

If he continues to perform consistentlyat Manchester United for the next 5+, years. And starts scoring some goals for England (heard he hasn't scored since 2003) he will become a GREAT player.

I pretty much agree with ajc on this one. He's a bit inconsistent at times but he works his ass off for the team and he has some great potential to become a world class striker.

Overrated players mentioned in this thread, Wayne Rooney, and Michael Carrick. Oh look they're both Mancs.
