Sasa Curcic

Post by jcdenton » 11 Apr 2007, 19:29

ok, so this guy used to live in my building when he was playing in Partizan, just few floors above...

Wikipedia:
Aleksandar "Saša" Ćurčić (born February 14, 1972 in Belgrade, Serbia, SFR Yugoslavia) is a Serbian former football midfielder.

Known for his eccentricity, Ćurčić played for OFK Beograd (1991-93), Partizan Belgrade (1993-95), Bolton Wanderers (1995-96), Aston Villa (1996-98), Crystal Palace (1998-99), MetroStars (1999), and Motherwell (2000).

He also turned out 13 times for the Yugoslavian national team, and scored one of the most memorable goals in the history of the Premier League whilst with Bolton.

Ćurčić has been known to sport a shaved head and a fu manchu beard sans moustache. Upon his arrival to Major League Soccer in 1999, he declared his intention to become the "Dennis Rodman of MLS". Ćurčić's stint in the league, however, lasted only nine games.

On 16 March 2000, Ćurčić joined Motherwell. He only made five appearances for the club, before joining Obilić Belgrade in his native Yugoslavia.

In an interview on Sky Sports in April 2001, Ćurčić stated that he had retired from football.
while he was playing for Crystal Palace in 1999 during NATO bombing he didn't want to play so he stood by the line and took out the text that said something about stopping the aggression against Yugoslavia... he used to fight with Irish and Albanians...

he likes to listen to Psychedelic Trance... he said he went to America in 1999 to see why they're such idiots...
he used to hang out with Jamiroquai, Dennis Rodman, Stan Collymore, Eva Herzigova...
he says that he's got strong love relationships with girls in over 48 countries...
he also said that English people are mostly idiots and that he used them...
"They're reincarnation of computers and Fidel Castro"
he said that MLS is joke league, it's so interesting to play there...
while he was in Aston Villa he bought a TRAM for 2 million pounds just to use it to get to practice...
now he lives in one of surrounding Belgrade villages in poor neighborhood, without money, he spent everything on parties and cocaine... sad story...

hehehe, i've just found an article about him from March 2006, man, he's genius...
idiot but genius...
he said he had never liked the fact that he, an idiot, very lazy, can earn more money than scientists and doctors...
he said that's VERY unfair, and that he dislikes football...
but he was damn talented...
if he had these football successes without practicing and with joking, what could he become if he was just a bit serious...

WOW what a coincidence...
i've just seen the ticket for private box...
few days after i've joined the EF my dad was in Birmingham watching Aston Villa and Bolton...
that's where Sasa Curcic used to play, Aston Villa and Bolton...
if you add the fact that he used to live in my building for 3 years...
there is some strange connection between me and Sasa Curcic...

also i've found an interesting error on some site:
Sasa Curcic - Croatian midfielder signed from Aston Villa in 1997

and another interesting Curcic's quote:
"I would not sign for another club, not even if I was offered 15 million dollars. However, it would be different if they were to instead offer me 15 different women from all around the world. I would tell the club chairman: 'Please let me make these women happy - I will satisfy them like they have never been satisfied before'."
Sasa Curcic (circa 2000)

I would have gone with Okocha myself. Barely even heard of Curcic.
