Falcao, the issue is something Wikipedia cannot answer (not that it is a reliable source at the best of times).

There has been a great deal made about Martin's lying about his age/having a fake passport. Whilst he is known to be 22, some have suggested this is a lie to help his career, and he is actually 28.

He looks quite young by the look of his playing style, but I have to say he doesn't realy look like a 22 year old if you look at his face. He could be one of those early-maturers though.. never know :P
But I guess he's around 22, can't be 28.
Must suck to be you

So you're trying to tell me that when he came to Higubury in 2003 and pretty much single-handedly took apart the Gunners he was 19 years old? Sorry, but there is no way that is possible. There has to be some age-fudging with him.

Wud u have said the same thing if Martins happened to be from England and perhaps if he was white? Im tracing a hint of racism here...

I Know Some People that have done that Wayne Rooney Only 18 In The Champions league against fenerbache and wayne rooney scored a hat trick right. But It Was At Old Trafford.

So I Dunno Its Kinda Weird.

That Was His Debut.

Nah, I don't think he's being racist or anything. He has a point though. If Martins was really 19 at the time then he should've become the best striker in the world easily by now.

Man, it isn't racism, it's simply a fact. Over many, many years, African nations have had a serious problem with false ages, and Martins certainly doesn't look like a twenty-two year old. If I were being racist, than I would say that Anelka, Seedorf, Henry, Ashley Cole are all older than they really are. Obviously, they are not.

Get me 1 reliable source that has proven that an African has faked his age.

Its impossible to know for sure unless your martins yourself but i think that it isnt ture that he lyed about he age, i mean take freddy adu for example people were saying he has lyed about his age becuase he such a good player at his age. If he weren't from an african nation then most likely people would think he isnt lying same with players like adu.

Megakid1234: Think of it like this. When you are 28 or so, you are in the peak of your career. You are faster than ever, you are smarter than ever, and you are, well, as good as you will get. Now, consider a player at their peak says that they are 22, big teams will think that he is full of potential if he is so good at a "young" age, so they will sign him much quicker than before, thus meaning the player will get better pay and a longer contract.

G-Unit-Freestyler: Togo midfielder Mamam Cherif Toure was revealed to have lied about his age. I know, not a big name player, but it is very ignorant to not say that age-lying is not rampant in Africa, because the TRUTH is that it is, white, black, arab, whatever race.
