must be rooney. he is at the heart of manutd's remarkable run at the moment.

this guy is unstoppable..

sir bobby charlton may very well be right, rooney might outshine ronaldinho in the WC. dont forget, rooney is 20 and ronaldinho is 26. when ronaldinho was 20, he wasn't this effective. when rooney is 26, he may become even more effective than ronaldinho ever was.

i agree messi is good, but i think hes gettin overshadowed by eto'o and ronaldinho at barca..

i mean if the FIFA world player is in ur team, no matter how good, ull still get overshadowed, esp. if the FIFA world player is on form.

on the other hand, rooney at times is single-handedly winnin United games...but these days the team performance is awesome as well, just that rooney's is exceptional.

Rooney, Mesii, and C.ronaldo are my favorite pick each is great at his own right each can change the game and each is still young.

i have to say rooney. at 20, he's better than so many forwards already. for me, he's really the best young player i've seen in a while.

yeah i go with rooney, he is a great goal scorer and a great asset to both man ud. and england. He is doing well especially for his youg age at 20. I compare him to LeBron James for basketball who is also an amazing young player.

Wayne Rooney no question: he can change a game at any moment, very skilled player, influential, world class, no flaws in game, absolute war horse, all over pitch
I can do it

I do agree that messi is a great player for both Barcelona and Argentina, but i have to say that Rooney has the most impact for his teams. I think he is the complete striker.

I think oranje74 is right.
Everytime Rooney gets the ball I get a sesnse something is going to happen i.e the team either score or come very close to scoring. I get this instinct with very few players , the only young one is Rooney.
I don't seem to get the same instinct with Messi but I think Messi will develop to be a good player and as he is only 18 may develop to be as good as Rooney.

messi is 2 years younger than rooney though, so he has more time 2 develop

messi is a very good player, and though he is overshadowed by superstars on his team he is still getting noticed. Rooney too has definitely got the potential to be the best, he has already scored spectacular goals and his team would not be the same without him.

absolutely rooney.man utd will not be a title contender for chelsea at this time although behind of them for 7 points without rooney.with rooney, anything is possible.the best attribute that rooney has is his explosiveness.when he is running forward,it seems like no one can stop him.Likely to become the next captain of red devils.

I recently read a stat somewhere that everytime Rooney scores Man Utd. win.

Also, Rooney showed his ability to play with the best by scoring a stunning volley against Arsenal last Sunday

Possibly Messi as he's the best player at his age. Close to being as good as Rooney and 2 years younger, alot of time for a young guy.

Or Rooney since he is one of the best players in the world at just 20, the most important player at Man U, although they aren't all that strong of a team right now if you compare them to Barca with Messi. He's good at so many things, a complete striker.

Fabregas is sort of forgotten here, and he's also one of the best players in the world, he's outplayed some of the best mids in the world, and look at his age.

Comparing Rooney to the younger guys isn't really fair, but he's the best right now out of these guys. I guess you could add C. Ronaldo too, since he's not at his prime yet, and was born the same year as Rooney.
