Well, shortly before May 22nd, i would've said Diego Milito. post the UCL final, there aren't too many people who could doubt his quality. (or are there?)

So, how about....... Pepe Reina? Despite LFC's 7th place finish, he was still immense. actually, without him, we'd probably have been a lot worse off. i think he's just one of those keepers who just tends to get overlooked amidst the likes of casillas, van der Sar, cesar, buffon.etc

If pepe reina is under-rated then Valdes is heavily under-rated. Finally he has been given a call-up to the national team.

Valdes has never been called up to Spain before?! That's INSANE!!! I mean, I know Casillas is brilliant and all, but I'd have thought Valdes would have made an appearance at some point... Especially given Barca's success over the past couple of years

Reina is immense and was deservedly player of the season.

He said its not a good thing for the side if your keeper wins best player haha.

Valdes has two sublime keepers over the top of him, and i believe there are even better spainards out there for the keeper jersey.

Valdes is the weak one i feel in the Barca team, he has never really impressed me. A friend of mine who is a keeper said this aswell.

de Gea? He is 19 and i think he is better than Valdes. If others thought highly of Valdes you would have the Man Citys and Man Utds crawling after him

True, I've just always had it in my head that Valdes was one of the next best things since sliced bread after reading about him in a Match annual

Although valdes is not that great of a shot stopper, he is a terrific player in 1v1 situations.

To be honest, I think Valdes is shiit...
Sure he makes some good saves every now and then, but he terrible at reading games. I dont know how many time iv seen Valdes run outside the box to do something crazy and he pretty much always fail, whatever his trying to do out there.
I think that Atleticos goalie De Gea deserved to play in the world cup. His kind of underrated...

What you speak of is not a usual occurence to be honest. I have seen him read the game well plenty of times. He has to considering the way Barcelona plays. The team pushes up so much, a good counter attacking team is its biggest threat so Valdes has to see that coming. Its the main reason why he cuts out so many 1v1 oppurtunities. Dont get me wrong, he was not great when he started but each year, he is showing significant improvement.

I am not trying to be a fanboy or anything but considering Valdes has won the best goalie award in La Liga two years in a row, the word "sh*t" is extremely harsh and just proves why he is underrated.

I think the Nigerian keeper Vincent Enyeama is massively underrated.

Alot of the keepers in the World Cup really impressed me, especially the African ones.

The Algerian 2nd keeper, the Nigerian and both South Africans, to name a few (backing up Rummandinhos first comment)
