Must be a joke right. He shouldve won this award ten years ago not this year.

He has started 12 matches this whole year.

Yes he is awesome because he is still playing at the top level. But this award usually goes to the BEST PLAYER OF THE YEAR. As the award says.

I hate Man U but I think either Vidic should have won. Possibly Stevie G.

Ronaldo and Giggs but no Rooney. What a joke.

Rooney wasnt even in team of the year.

be fair, he linked up brilliantly with Javier Mascherano for Babel's winner at Anfield.

Cant think of anyone more deserving, considering how consistently brilliant he has been troughout the season..

Hope Ferguson starts him for the rest of the season, so he can singlehandedly win matches for them..

Well Sami Hyypia is old now and been around a while. He was probley one of the best centre backs to play in the premiership.

Any bets for him to win it next season ?

Also Van der Sar has had alot of clean sheets this season and set a new record and he was nominated ? What about the past 3 season in a row when Reina won the golden glove.

These awards are messed up.

I believe the award is for the calender year Jan - Dec.

If it was awarded by a bunch of boozed up journalists I would agree but he has been voted for by his fellow professionals

there is a problem because the votes are tallied in febuary, still leaving 3 months of league play left.......

IMO it should have been Gerrard or Lampard(who wasn't even on the list for some reason)
