He beat messi and torres, and won many other trophies like, "golden boot", "Balon de oro", Uefa player of the year, Uefa striker of the year, Best FIFpro player of the world, and now the FIFA player of the year award.

.He won 935 votes, overcoming Messi with 678 votes, Torres with 203, kaka 183, and Xavi with 155

there were 5 spaniards in the top 10.. including Xavi, Torres, Iker, Iniesta and Villa!

kaka 183, and Xavi with 155
ROFL

WTF did Kak√° acheive last season to go have more votes then Xavi, the master mind of Spain and Barcelona? for gods sake, these awards are getting retarded by the time...

I do not understand Fifa's evaluation system at all,it looks like some losers are running Fifa.If i had selected top 5 players, then i would have put xavi in a higher place than Kaka(even though i am a kaka fan). For me,top 5 positions will be like this

1)C.Ronaldo
2)Xavi
3)Torres
4)Messi
5)Kaka

I just want to go on a rant for a little bit.

what pisses me off about c.ronaldo more than the diving and girl-like tendencies is that he seems to have no respect and appreciation for the game. I was looking at the pictures from the gala event and Pele was the one who was presenting the award. Pele, the best player ever and an icon. c.ronaldo did not seem amused or pleased to meet the legend. Not much of a smile, just sort of a look of boredom. I'd be ecstatic to meet Pele. c.ronaldo seemed like he thought Pele was inferior.
another example. When he was honored by old trafford when he won his first award he was escorted out by bobby charlton and dennis law if i remember correctly. Again, the same look of boredom and not wanting to be there. How could someone seem to have such a disregard of the past? that's what gets at me the most.

rant over.

That was a good one and a little saddening that he looked bored meeting Pele and Charlton. Charlton reminds me of my grandpa, also Charlton always has a bad ass babuska hat on.

messi should have won in my opinion. It seems like all fifa did was look at the goals stats. look at a barcelona game and a manchester united game and u will see messi has a MUCH bigger effect on the pitch than gay faggot sissy boy ronaldo.

and soccer11 has a good point in ronaldo thinking pele is inferior to him. Pele has done shitloads more than ronaldo ever will.

Wow, I didn't see this coming. The douchbag won the award. What else is new? He scored alot of goals. And that's really the only reason I can come up with for why he won the award.

"yawn" whats new? Hes a diver, hes pathetic, he cant play, hes a sissy, hes gay, blah blah blah blah. Dont you C. Ronaldo haters ever come up with new things to bash him on about? This whole "I hate c ronaldo" thing is getting old, and frankly, same insults are being used every single time.

I agree that Messi is good, but what did Messi do for Barcelona last season? Nothing. What did C. Ronaldo help Manutd achieve? He helped them to win Cl and be crowned champions of the league while at the same time breaking legend George Best's scoring record for Manutd in a season.

There wasn't anyone else who deserved it more than C. Ronaldo. Maybe next year Messi will win it because hes looking pretty good right now and hes helped Barcelona sit at the top of the table ahead of Madrid.

I'm pretty sure my rant was pretty original, no?...

I've heard he's self-absorbed and arrogant all the time too. Just because he doesn't smile or acts like pele is god doesn't mean that hes arrogant. Maybe he likes pele but not that much. Every player has a hero, Pele isn't everyones hero. For instance, if i could i would rather meet George Best when he was alive than meet Pele or Maradona. Pele was good, but George was the best.

Soccerfury- We aren't making things up, those are truths about him which is why you hear them so much. He's a prick. And Messi's doing ok? He's already scored half as many goals are cr7 did last year and has twice as many assist, and there's still lots of games left. cr7 is the most over-rated player in sports as far as I'm concerned. You can bitch about us being cr7 haters, but there's starting to be a lot more of us then cr7 lovers, and quite frankly our reasons for disliking him are better then our reasons for loving him.

Also cr7 isn't a player who's effective thoughout the game. On any given Man U game he's usually non-existant for a good 70-80 minutes of the game. While players like Messi, Torres, Xavi, Kaka, Totti, Cambiasso, Joe Cole (none acheived as much last year) are involved the entire time they're in.

If you wanna support cr7, great, but don't bitch at the peopl who don't like him. He's earned every bit of disrespect people throw at him on this site so don't bitch about people stating their opionins of the douche and we'll try not to rip on you for likeing a cheat.

I honestly don't think Real Madrid players got enough attension for the awards, Cassias got some talk, but not enough. Plus (expecially the dutch) a lot of the players did good for the club and the EURO's. just my thoughts.

and Soccer11, your 100% right about his attitude toward leagends. I hope Roy Keane presents an award........and punches him in the mouth....if only...............

C.Ronaldo is too arrogant. When he met Pele and he acted like it was nothing; I think it has something to do with that his idol is Maradona.

And soccerfury, George Best was brave, two footed and scored allot of goals but I've never seen anyone take on defenders like Maradona did.

But what many people (like myself) are saying is that he was over-rated last year. I don't think he was the best last year like many do, he was at the best club and scored the most goals, but that doesn't make him the best like many assume it does.

I honestly think last season was a fluke and he'll never achieve it again, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Ofcourse cronaldo isnt going to be "oh sh*t its Pele!" excited when he saw the Brazilian legend. Everyone has their own favourite, they regard as the best player in the world ever. For some its Pele, for others its Maradona, Zidane or Ronaldo (r9 duhh) and for me its the likes of Messi, Xavi and Alves.

I am sure cronaldo has a favourite player he regards as the best in the world. Someone he totally admires and respects. But who?

No worries. Here is a video where cronaldo gives the answer to the question "who is the best player in the world ever?"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSNv3hup ... 1&index=39

Either cronaldo is serious or a true pioneer of dead pan humour in professional football. Sadly Anderson destroys him in that dry wit style though.
