he did play really badly against lyon, but usually costacurta plays pretty well. however, you'll notice i picked cannavaro as the better player anyway :)

and for bent vs. twellman, i meant which one deserves to make their country's world cup squad more.

If your talking about English Darren Bent, I think Bent deserves to go to Germany.
I may be a bit biased though :) cos some teachers told me he used to go to my school a few years ago.
You could guess how shocked I was!

shevchenko. recently, he's just been a lot better. overally, i think he's a more complete player. ruud is a better finisher, but shevchenko is better overall.

Messi. He has had a fantastic season, although he is currently injured. He is strong, quick, excellent dribbler and consistently produces end product. Robinho is more skillful but when playing for Madrid he seems to have less impact.

It's a difficult one, but I'll say Inzahgi.
Larsson played very, very well when with Celtic, and you could bet your mortgage he'll score in any match; even against rangers.
But after he's gone to Barcelona, he's had very little impact. This makes me feel he cannot cut it with the big clubs.

Inzahgi is and excellent finisher also, and can always play well against any defence.

vieira, almost solely because of experience. they are very close in skill, vision, and playmaking, but vieira is better to me because he has more experience, and is stronger on the ball. within a few years, i can see fabregas becoming much better, but for now, i pick vieira

Carvalho, he is consistent, Campbell is finished...

Zigic v Crouch
FORÇA BARÇA!

"I’m a player who can do absolutely anything if I am smiling and laughing. If I’m not happy, then everything becomes more of a struggle,” explained Adriano.

i pick crouch. he's had more club and international success recently, although i think zigic will be just as good soon.

they play different positions but I have to say Pirlo as he is the engine for Milan...

Xavi v Gerrard

id pick gerrard, hes the heart of liverpool and i cant c any faults in his game. hes 1 of the best passers on the planet, great at dribbling, has an incredible shot and can tackle. he is the complete midfielder.

I would rate them equally as players, but Gerrard has far more influence at Liverpool than Xavi does at Barcelona. Xavi hasn't featured in Barcelona's team for a while (is he injured?) yet they are still playing well and winning games. But if Gerrard is not playing, Liverpool don't play nearly as well which shows how much of a difference he makes. So I would go for Gerrard.

xavi. alonso is one of the best passers in the game, and he's better in the air, but xavi is just amazing. he has incredible vision, passing, and play-reading ability. it seems like he just always knows what he's doing, so i pick xavi.
