Can Germanys fans carry them through?

Post by maradona10 » 26 Mar 2006, 19:57

Home field advantage is a big thing for any sport. But does that go the same for soccer? My personal opinion, no. Soccer fans are crazy and will go anywhere in the world to support their team. Something as big as the world cup, you can be sure to have almost a 50-50 crowd. So if your thinking that Germany is only going to excel based on the venue, think again. If they get out of their group (costa rica, poland, ecuador) i think it will be based on their skill level.

Germany won't do much this tournament. The supporters aren't fully behind the team. There is a lot of arguments around the fact that Klinnsman still lives in California even though he is the national team manager.

The 4-1 score against USA really flattered Germany, they really weren't very good at all.

I agree with ratheron Germany might get out of the group but they won't go that far. As to the fans thing I expect plenty of Englishmen because there is always alot of them as well as many Poles since many of my country men live in Germany and Poland is Germanys neighbor. I wouldn't be suprised if many Poles bought tickets for the German sections of the crowd.

England will, as normal, have a huge number of fans there - only Germany will have more supporters.

Ticket prices are outrageous, I've just seen a pair of Category 1 (top price) tickets for England v Sweden on Ebay for €2,000.

Germany obviously doesn't look like a squad good enough to do alot of damage at WC 06, but remember 4 years ago when they were a team with no future and found their way into the finals?

I wouldn't underestimate the Germans no matter what their team looks like, and what the support is like. They always come to play.

i'm predicting a quarter final run at absolute best for germany. they're a decent team. not great, not horrible, but decent. i'd say they will definitely make it out of their group, but the knockout stages will get the best of them.

I think QF at best as well

If the groups work out as 'planned', Germany will play either England or Sweden in the last 16 and the winners would almost certainly play Holland or Argentina in the QF

lol of course it does.....with help from the officials... u know what i am talking about....every WC....like the 1998 Brazil vs. france in the finals was almost certain in the begining of the tournment....
dont get me wrong its not like the officials whould just call fouls out of no where and gives yellows and reds...but they will help the teams they want to be in the finals(germany....brazil....argentina...)by refing more strict to their opponets and let go some of the fouls they commit... u know what i am saying? (the under table bets are just too high)
but u never know fifa is getting stricter now and they are doing everything to make the game go smooth...so i am sure this will be an exciting world cup......my prediction is brazil vs. germany in the final or before that but i am sure they will play each other......

i don't know about that. as far as i know world cup games have been pretty well officiated. i don't usually see many decisions that were unreasonably in one team's favor. and when i do, it was usually just a mistake.

I'm a fan of Germany and I dun think we can get past the group stage....

They're 2nd/3rd best in almost every position.
