WC Final

Post by shahensha » 09 Jul 2010, 08:00

Aight discussion for the world cup final.

I must say I am very excited for many reasons.

It is a showdown between two of the most renowned styles in football: Tiki taka vs Total football.

Also, both Spain and Holland were the only teams to have a 100% winning record in their WC qualifiers.

Furthermore, Robben & Sneijder vs Iniesta & Xavi...thats right, a showdown between the best midfielders of the current generation.......although they all deserve legend status, only the winner will be granted the honour.

The best part however is that this is the first time in the history of the WC final when Argentina, Italy, Brazil or Germany are not playing

You all know me and my biased ways so I dont really have to say who i am rooting for lol

Edit: So fifa has finally realized that Howard Webb has done the best job as referee in this WC and have granted him the honour of refereeing the finale.

I'm quite pleased Howard Webb has been awarded the final, both Webb and his linesmen have been excellent.

Perhaps players like Cole and Terry will be less likely to throw tantrums at him next season. He has achieved something they didn't - getting to the World Cup final.

I think it is more ironic how tiki-taka was pretty much created at Barcelona via Johan Cruyff, who in turn was one of the founding fathers of total football. In a way, you could say Tiki-taka is the product when total football is perfected.

Anyway, I think it will be a good game, I was disappointed it wasn't a Germany V Netherlands final, but Spain will generate a similar atmosphere eitherway.

3-2 to Spain in extra time.

I like everything about Holland: The people, the country, the football.
I've waited for a long time for them to make a final so I'll be rooting for them for sure. I'm hoping for a good game, though I won't be surprised if it's not.

I was hoping it would be Howard Webb. I'm glad it's a European referee, specifically someone who won't give out cheap yellow cards.

Well played ratherton.

Yeah, Webb is the best choice; I have always liked him as an official, especially how he's able to command the game without giving needless bookings or looking to get the spotlight personally.

If that octopus is wrong then it should be killed, cooked, and served for dinner.

I hope he is because let's face it....it's an octopus. The money I have riding on the Netherlands in WC pools and other action can fund my 2014 Brazil trip. I think it'll be a tightly played game and I'm glad Webb got the call to be the head official. I thought he did a great job on the UCL Final and tends to have a very level head on fouls, diving, PK's, ect.

An octopuses brain is on a completely different level to a human brain, however, that doesn't say a lot to be honest.

I wasn't saying this octopus is right, I was just pointing out that octopuses are much more intelligent than some humans are to tommy. Nothing can predict who is going to win 100%.

I disagree, the octopus is all mighty. He's 10 for 12 in predictions and the two that he didn't predict were in 2008, he's mastered his devine power since then.

He has only done it 12 times lol? I thought it was more than that lol.

I love octopuses, their so funny to look at and cool.

Would love it if he refused to decide one and he turned around holding a sign saying "i want a pay rise"

I almost bought an octopus a few months back but decided I should wait until I'm done with school before doing something like that :D
