Judging from the video it's an Academy of sorts - I'd imagine it would be pretty similar to the one Nike had a year or so ago for players who just missed out on professional contracts, and so was basically giving them a second chance to get noticed. But I could be wrong

I think your right because the Academy logo looks the same. The Nike Academy was for footballers who got another opportunity. I watched the videos and a lot of them were playing for semi-pro sides while in the academy. One guy ended up signing a 4 year deal with a club in Sweden.

It looks like most of the guys were from the UK.

I think its def. another round of the Nike Academy. However, I believe you will have to have been born in the UK or at least hold an EU passport. This is based in the UK because they sent 2 players from the academy to the Exit Trials. The exit trials are games seen by scouts of all levels (EPL to Conference).

I think the kids selected for the Academy the first time were ones who were released from Football League Clubs. I googled some names and many were at clubs at some point.

Go on the nike website, you will see all about it.

What you pretty much do is make a facebook page based on you and your footballing. Get loads of "likes" and you will get a chance to go to a trial.

Get notied. Get Scouted. Get signed.

I only noticed it yesterday, but with 7 days or so left of it there isn't much hope. Idk, it's still a "if we think you're good enough" thing so even if you have 100k+ "fans" they don't have to give you a chance. I must say though I watched the videos of a few people that are in the top spots and competition is quite weak for it.

It's awesome they're giving it a shot, but from what I saw in the videos I hope Nike doesn't give them a chance. On that note if they do think they'd be good enough, I DEFINITELY need to make a video next time. haha

It does seem like a popularity contest. However, I did watch some of the nike academy videos on youtube and the players were good. One even signed a 4 year deal with a team in Sweden, others were playing with conference teams in addition to being in the academy.

Hey Arsenalfc08, can you give me some links of those you thought were really good?

Because like Icy, I also thought some of the videos were rubbish. They were like just stupid free kicks or something like that.

Even though it is a popularity contest...I still really want to go for it. BUT my country(the passport I have) is not on the list!!! :(

Yeah, I didn't mean to imply the academy itself wasn't very good, but rather the players trying to get into it (that I saw videos for..). I try to never judge people\teams unless I'm in the same situation, i.e. alone or with the same team a video shows. In the videos I saw of players trying to get in were solo, and quite frankly very disappointing.

I don't think Nike did it this way last time. I believe for the first academy (ones I posted video of) they had trials all around England. This new way is absolutely a popularity contest and I don't think has much to do with actual football at this point. Still its all up to Nike so even if the most popular person won it doesn't mean they will be selected. I think the whole votes thing is to send someone for a trial for the academy, correct me if I'm wrong though. I believe "the chance" is a trial to get into the academy.

A lot, if not all, of the kids in last years Nike Academy had previously played with Football League academies.

yeah that is true. There are like three stages to go through. First you are the most popular and therefore get a trial. Then, you play matches and if you are good enough you sign a contract with Nike Academy.
