Post by Ronaldao » 09 Feb 2010, 23:21

Thought I would start a thread dedicated to the copa libertadores which is basically the champions league of south america.

Group 1
Corinthians(Brazil)
Cerro Porteno(paraguay)
Independiente Medellin(colombia)
Racing(uruguay)

Group 2
São Paulo (Bra)
Nacional (Para)
Once Caldas (col)
Monterrey (mexico)

Group 3
Estudiantes (arg)
Alianza Lima (peru)
Juan Aurich(peru)
Bolivar(bolivia)

Group 4
Lanús (arg)
Blooming (bolivia)
Universitario (peru)
Libertad(paraguay)

Group 5
Cerro(uruguay)
Internacional(brasil)
Deportivo Quito(ecuador)
Winner of Newell's old boys(argentina) and Emelec(ecuador)

Group 6

Banfield(argentina)
Nacional (uruguay)
Deportivo Cuenca (ecuador)
Morelia (mexico)

Group 7

Vélez Sársfield (argentina)
Colo-Colo (chile)
Deportivo Italia (venezuela)
Cruzeiro (brazil)

Group 8
Flamengo (brazil)
Universidad de Chile (chile)
Caracas (venezuela)
winner of colon(argentina) and universidad catolica(chile)

Libertad(paraguay), Juan aurich(peru), cruzeiro(brasil),and racing all played playoff games to get in the tournament by beating deportivo tachira(venezuela), tecos(mexico),real potosi(bolivia), and Junior(colombia), respectively.

The top teams of each group will qualify to the round of 16 as well as the top six best second place teams.

Guadalajara(mexico) and san luis(mexico) are automatically qualified to the round of 16 because in last years tournament they were not allowed to play due to the h1n1 outbreak.

Yeah I remember Tejada scored a bicycle kick on Mexico I think in 05 that was very impressive. U.Catolica got in as well by beating Colon in penalties.

I'm from California north of San Francisco.Today both mexican teams lost but Morelia definitely got abullshit red that completely changed the momentum of the game, they ended up losing 2-1 to Banfield, last years champions of Argentina.

Well Juan Aurich is currently playing Estudiantes la plata..
possession wise Estudiantes has had the ball more, but goal opportunity wise its been tied...the score is 2-1....

My panamanian homie scored again, against ELP, which is huge for our 3 million people country... Only a few panamanians have played in Spain, and a few spread out through Europe, so this dude will put us in the map some more... He has 4 goals now, 3 in the qualifiers and 1 in the group stage.. on fire
