quaresma kick (trivela)

Post by nombrile » 20 May 2007, 00:37

Any one have tips how to kick with the outside of the foot like he does or know how it's called in english. I know it's called trivela but the sites are in portugese or spanish and I can't read them.

I wouldn't kick like that If I were you, you could serisouly affect your knee ligaments..

Apparently Quaresma does not have any problems with his ligaments...

What I meant was its an unatural movement imagine if his foot got stuck in the ground while he was trying to kick with the outside foot like that he could brake his knee easily. If he got tackled or pushed from behind while trying to kick like that he'd hurt himself real bad. He might not have any ligament problems now but in the long run its going to affect his knees.

That's why you start slow and build speed and power slowly.

I see what you were saying and you were right. It is an unnatural movement, but so is shooting with your instep. It's all about learning the technique first and then practicing the technique again and again each time a little faster and stronger. Now if he tried to shoot it powerfully without first practicing it and getting the technique, he could hurt himself. But with practice it should be OK.

it doesnt work like that. Its acutually safe to do it because all your doing is spinning and kicking it lloks fast because as you saw all of the shots were done while he was running so it looked awkward but its not awkward at all. I do it all the time at school and i get tackled and ive never felt better. Anyway that beutiful curve by roberto carlos was also by the outside of the foot and he does not have any problems. Of course dont move your legs crosswards so its opposite as that does problems but other than that its a pretty safe shot. Its acutually pretty cool because it curves

Nah actually that famous Roberto Carlos freekick goal was with his instep.

Thats right.. Robert Carlos uses most of his instep but kick the ball really hard and at an angle which makes it spin.. I do it sometimes aswell but Quaresma get his shot power from a sudden movement of his leg and he twists his knee ligaments to the max while kicking it.. I also shoot liek quaresma sometimes but rarely I'm just saying he always does it one time he could hurt himself

Its not that simple. Though i do it all the time, but its very difficult to do it when the ball is not moving, cuz u can't control its direction. But if u do it while the ball is moving it won't require much power, it only requires technique.

I use it often and I haven't injured myself so far. It isn't very difficult but it depends what you are trying to do with it. It can be very useful in some situations so it is a good technique to learn. Its just curving the ball, but sometimes it is difficult to get power on it if you mishit it.
