Hey guys i am really good at free kicks. I can bend pretty much like beckham now and I'm sure i could be a FK specialist for a team but i wanted to know something. How do you give the ball topspin so it cuts downward? I'm GREAT at bending it around the wall. That's no problem. But i want to learn how to give it topspin so i could hit it harder without having to worry about it going over the wall. Some help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot.

OK what you have to do is right as you make contact with the ball move your foot up or almost do a little hop as your sriking the ball, this will create a top spin and as you practice more it will start to dip.

Check out Cosminff's free kick guide. It explains perfectly with pictures and everything.

hey man I know Im a noob but here are my thoughts. like other people have said, everyone has their own style and watching the pros take free kicks is the best way to learn. and most people use a different technique depending on how far away they are from goal. I kick somewhat like Ronaldinho from 18-23 yds. I take one step back, and then make contact with the ball almost at the ground( my foot is is positioned sideways like a pass except I hit the ball with the knuckle of my big toe) and then I lift my foot through the ball at a 45 degree angle and follow through by continuing to lift my leg all the way up.at the same time Im leaning back a little bit. I dont hop or skip. hope that helps. anyway theres no "right" way to take a FK. there are techniques that will help you improve. Henry, Ronaldinho, C. Ronaldo, and every other player have different styles and they all score. so whatever gets the ball in the back of the net works. oh and did I mention PRACTICE. But if your as good as you claim you are, you already knew that.It took me 4 months of practice every day to get to where I can dip the ball over the wall 1 out of 5 times. good luck and mess with several styles and use what works for you.

there are many ways many people can encourage you to do because it works for them, you just have to practice and find out on your own. To bend the ball, it's all about the follow through, right? To dip the ball, it neccessary to adjust the power of the shot.
