How to dribble past someone faster and stronger than you?

Post by Jordan Bell » 29 Jul 2006, 09:18

Hello Boys and Girls,

Although i am a really hard tacklin
defender i like trying out tricks,
especially on my brother.

However he is 3 years older than me, and is faster and stronger than me,

Any tips on how to get past him :?:

being smaller has it's advantages , so try not to use force , ousmart him , maybe try nutmeg him , if your smaller its easier to weave in and out and around him.. im in the same position , my brothers 3 years older than me , and hes a good footballer , so i just try and megz him alot

just a quick thing, in your other post "why bother doing tricks" you said you don't to tricks and you rely more on your passing to open up the field and i believe this topic answers your other post. Sometimes you have to dribble out of situations like double teams, sometimes all your other options are blocked and you have to dribble. Thats where tricks come in handy. They also show that you are comfortable on the ball and aren't just getting rid of it all the time.

On the other hand you play defense so you shouldn't really be doing tricks anyway unless you are making a run.

I thaught you didn't do tricks...?

Sorry i didn't put this on the other one this one just had more responses...2!

You're right that as a defender i shouldn't do tricks, but i was only wondering how to get my past my annoying big brother!

I don't mess about in a game!

try to wrong foot him, then as he's shifting, wrong foot him the other way, and he'll either fall down or completely be lost. as yung ital said (sort of), you need to be smarter and trickier than your opponent, not necessarily faster or stronger.

as to the topic you would have to just be trickier then them make them commit... and in a personal note young whats up with all that c.Ronaldo stuff. if my memory serves right u didnt rly like him all that much before u left.

i just didnt like his attitude when he was younger, he was arrogant, and he was an individualist. Now that he is older, he has a great attitude like helping little kids with moves and being in joga bonito promoting beautiful football, and he has matured, and that arrogance turned into confidence. He is a great player. Haven't you ever met someone you didn't like at first and then grown to like them? Think about it

hey young-tial i kno what you mean about not liking someone first then liking them. i used to hate ronaldhino thinkin he was a cocky ugly bastard. i think differently of him now tho. he is very humble and seems like a nice guy. by the way i love C.Ronaldo. i think his tricks were better when he was younger tho. it seems like when he was younger he used more speed.

It may have been more attractive back then, but he plays smarter now.

I'm 13 and I always play with guys 16 or17.
It depends on what game you are playing. If you are playing with guys stronger and faster than you, don't always try to get past them. Look for a pass but always be ready to use your shoulders and body to shield the ball

tempt him for the ball then just knock it to the side when he goes for it. Obviously you can not do this every time so try megz, or weaving in and out :D :) :( :o  :? 8)   :P :x     :!: :?:  [/img]
