Rising shot

Post by ianrobleo » 27 Feb 2016, 10:05

Hello all, I need help.
I'm trying to perfect a driven shot where the ball starts low after you strike it, but because there is so much backspin it starts rising and ends up in the top of the net.

I know you have to strike with the laces but I just can't get myself into the correct position to shoot with my laces. The ball ends up flying way to high, almost like a goal kick or high pass. Also, what's the follow through like? Im sure the follow through is important too. Some good examples of the shot I'm trying to explain is:

I've been practising it almost daily but it gets more frustrating because I can't do it. Your help is appreciated thanks a lot :)

Hello. The height of your kick is usually determined by your supporting foot. So if you step behind the line of the ball or you lean back, the ball will fly up.
There's an old article about this: http://expertfootball.com/wp/?p=1310
Thanks and good luck!

Thanks for the reply.

The article I read, to strike with the laces it says to run straight up to the ball and strike the ball vertically and downwards with the laces.

I notice most footballers run up at an angle to get their laces on the ball, and it seems to work best. That's the part I'm having trouble with. Getting the proper point of contact is my weakest point
