Practice shooting in your room

Post by Miilleniium » 13 Aug 2011, 20:58

Since I just come here to ask you guys what's best for my soccer/futsal skills I thought I could contribute with a little excercise :)

Ok so I was in my room juggling a tennis ball so I thought I could practice my shooting skills based on Jdefoe's finishing drill which you can read here: viewtopic.php?t=3066

You will need:
#Tape
#Tennis Ball
#2 plastic cup

Why Tennis ball?: I beleive it gives you more control, it should be harder for you to aim on the targets and it won't make so much noise as a regular ball so your parents won't listen.

Ok so now you put tape in the plastic cups and stick it to the wall, 4-5 feet apart from each one. It should be like this:

And that's it, stand apart and shoot in the plastic cups, simple but effective! You could juggle it for more control too.

Hope you guys like it

Why not? I read Messi used to do touches against the wall always with a tennis ball, he juggled it, dribble with it, even used to eat dinner with the that little thing!

It will help imo...Smaller ball=shooting direction has to be more precise to hit the cup
and it's something to do in the house, and any football will help

the problem is it's nothing like a normal ball. every single aspect is different and it won't apply to the real thing. one of the biggest reasons behind that is your foot can not get around a tennis ball like it could a soccer ball hell 90% of the time your foots too big to even hit the damn thing properly if you went back to a real ball what you just practiced would have you skying the ball into row z.

stay with dribbling/juggling a tennis ball

i have no idea but i imagine weight would come into that. i've kicked a few futsal balls and they seem to weigh a fair bit more. if that's what you have around it's better than a tennis ball.

:/ I'm sure Ronaldo used to practise hitting the light switch with a tennis ball in his garage.

futsal balls had helped me a lot with dribbling and juggling I hope it works on my shooting skills too, i'll play futsal today I hope my definition be a lot better. I haven't played soccer in a month or more so I can't tell you guys if it has worked on my soccer skills but since I play in the street I see the ball stick to my feet, amazing dribbles and good juggling skills when I practice but I can't tell you if my definition has gone better because the ball almost fits in the goal net were I have played in the last few days.

:p i found nothing like that on youtube p793 but i'll go with it. somehow i doubt it. like i said though the weight on the futsal ball might be a bit weird for shooting.

I couldn't find any articles either I just remember reading about it when I was younger. Anyways the best advice would be to practise your shooting in the day time and then just use a tennis ball to walk around with in the house when you need to switch rooms etc. You wanna do such high intensity in the day you wont feel like shooting with a tennis ball at home :P lol

so let me give you a good example, so what your saying is that if a baseball pitcher practiced throwing with a golf ball then he would not improve? you guys are crazy, of course he would improve, a smaller ball takes more skill and accuracy
