So, an update on my progress:

I think I'm getting better and more consistent at hitting the ball with the sweet spot, the instep.
It's hard to describe, but when I do get a good shot off, it just feels right when I connect with the ball.
Obviously I still mess up sometimes, but there is some improvement with regards to consistency.

I've also been paying attention to try and maintain good balance throughout the whole swinging, shooting motion. I'm not sure if my body lean is correct, but I do use my arms now, and it feels a whole lot of better. It helps me get a better contact point on the ball with my foot.

One thing though:

I think I'm missing out on a lot of power and distance because of a lack of (proper) follow through.
Any additional tips on this one? Or will it come with practice like the rest?

The follow through can have a great impact on the power of your shot and the spin you put on the ball.

The best advice I can offer you is to watch that torres video again and again and examine how he hits through the ball. That is what you want to recreate.

Glad to hear it's coming along well and you're seeing improvements :)
