Weaker foot training

Post by desire10 » 10 Jun 2011, 22:01

I've got a schedule right now based around developing my shooting/long passing with my left foot.

At first, I was getting short bursts of improvement swiftly, but now it seems to be at a standstill, and there's plenty of other things I'd like to improve on.

How long will it take to get my weaker foot up to scratch? Any experience?

It took me two months before my left as equally as good as my right (it has since surpassed it), and I practiced almost every day. Only out of necessity, though. I had injured my right foot and still wanted to practice, so I was forced into using the left. The technique is really indentical, you just need dedication to push through the awkwardness and develop the muscle mass/memory required. You can do with consistent practice! :)

With boot or bare foot? Because i want to make my both foot functioning well. It can help me to learn new style of playing.

Juggling with your weaker foot can really boost its co-ordination, and then everything comes easier after that.

Once you can dribble with a ball with your weaker foot very well, move onto a smaller size football, or a tennis ball.

At the moment I'm trying to learn to juggle with a tennis ball, if you can juggle a tennis ball easily, then your ball control with a football would be amazing. Maradona used to do that, he even done golf balls.

Yes good point.

I'm also doing juggling with my weaker foot. I can get to about 15 juggles at most before dropping it, but I've definitely improved and I've only had one session.

15 juggles with a tennis ball on your weaker foot or normal ball?

Currently I can do 5 with my weaker foot with a tennis ball. It's so bloody hard to juggle with...

15 juggles with a tennis ball, using both feet (left, right, left, right etc...)

Wow!! That`s good. I only can get like 6-7 taps, with my stronger foot. What about a size 5 ball? Max, how many taps you guys can get?

If I could keep focus I'd still be juggling to this day, but my best is 600ish.

Some people do thousands, but by 300 the ball just looks wierd to me lol, and it's a tad blury. I can't maintain focus.

My juggling max would be around 170-200. Ive been playing soccer since I was like 8 and juggle at every session and my ball control is quite good im not sure why i cant get further its just that one touch screws me up.
