Does playing with a hacky sack have any effect on soccer and if so what?

It might help your control/coordination, but IMO, it's more likely to develop bad habits due to the small size and low weight of the thing.

I think Cruyff used to this? And supposedly, it worked for him. If you want, give it a shot. I'd say a tennis ball is a step up from a hackey sack.

David Beckham said he used to practise doing kick ups with a tennis ball to improve his co-ordination and control. I can see the logic in this. A tennis ball is much more bouncy than a football, and would therefore be more difficult to control, and naturally being smaller would develop your co-ordination rapidly.
