Fast footwork

Post by Kanishk » 19 Aug 2008, 16:12

Can anyone suggest me drills to quicken my footwork. I mean not for stepovers but for dribbling amongst like 3 defenders, we need fast feet in cutting the ball.
Also some easy drills to improve my control in my left foot (i am a righty)

If your trying to dribble or do stepovers really quick, its simple.
All you have to do is just build up speed gradually until you get to a speed that you cant go any more faster.

Just start from really slow and then just build it up until you get really fast.
If you want dribble really quick, try using the outside of your foot.
This will help you control the ball and dribble at a fast pace.

Just follow my tips and it will work!
Good luck!

Check it out for your weak foot

and for fast feet:

red font: simple and effective way to do drills
green font:more advanced and game realistic way to do drills

Drill 1
Ball or cone...10 minutes
Do stepovers around the ball while stationary, everytime you touch it do 10 situps, remember to keep your head up
Do drag stepovers and reverse stepovers around the ball, everytime you touch it do 10 situps, remember to keep your head up

Drill 2
Ball...10 minutes
Touch the top of the ball with each foot alternativly, while trying not to move the ball
drag the ball back to each foot alternativly as quick as you can

hope that sorts you out

Well, I think it is for sudden blast in your speed.
With fast feet I meant cutting in a congested place of like 2 square meters against 3 defenders. We need to cut into gaps quickly for which we need fast footwork. Hope this makes it bit clearer

well the 2 drills i posted will help alot with that regardless

but one other drill:

Drill 3
Ball, Stopwatch and 10 cones...10 times
Set up the cones in a straight line, zig zag through them as fast as you can without the ball, check your time, then try beat that time with the ball
Set up the cones in a straight line, zig zag through them as fast as you can without the ball, check your time, then try beat that time with the ball, you can only use one touch to beat each cone

now you happy? :D

its not perfection that makes us improve, but trying to reach it :D

but i meant you like zig zag as fast as you can without the ball

then if you can go as fast with the ball, you truly are in complete control of the ball

it basically teaches you to move as fast with the ball as you would without and would help your feet maintain control while moving fast

i'm 0.54 seconds faster without the ball :D

i'm quite proud of that

it will take a long time before you can reach your normal speed but i find it as a very good (and challenging) drill

good luck!
