I can't even begin to imagine how many hours he would had spent with a football. Just look at his control with not only with the football, but with a tennis ball, golf ball, and even a water bottle - amazing.
i think he is a very interesting player. Think about it this way, he has such an aggressive dribbling style that you don't even predict it. Pretty much what i mean is, the last thing on your mind if you see a player is that hes going to run right at you, and dribble all the way to the goal by himself. The thing is thats exactly what maradona did, therefor makings defenders say what the fu**? who does that? but he did it and its clearly the best way of having success. Just like messi they both have the aggressive dribbling style of just running at you, and they don't think about anything else but going to goal. They go against the grain so fast and so precise that its impossible to stop them.
It's the unbelievable pace they have on the ball which makes them unstoppable.
When you have that level of control, you don't even need to be exceptionally fast or strong to go past players.
All Maradona/Messi/Cruyff do to dribble, is to keep the ball close to them taking a touch with every stride. Go straight at the defender like this, and then choose which way they are going and bam, knock it past them and sprint onto it.
If you try to use this style of dribble, that is the most important part in my opinion. You HAVE to knock it past them when you go for the change of pace and direction. If you try to run around them taking a touch with every stride then it is impossible to accelerate very well, and it makes it much easier for you to be tackled.
I think its mostly all control really - all of them have unreal control over the ball and that allows them to do anything they want -- i've been focusing on control for maybe 5 years now, my individual training is always atleast 75% control, and the rest is other drills which i dedicate much less time to, and i feel that im a WAY WAY better player now that i have really good control- we usually have to take 2 touches in my team, but there are times when 2 touches wont break down a defense, when you can take on 2 men with total ease and play a through ball, you can destroy defenses-
just like at the best zizou, ronaldo, messi, maradona, pele, cruyff, ozeil, iniesta, they can make the ball do whatever the hell they want- they aren't the fasted, the strongest, the best oness tackling, they have unrealistic control over the ball and touch and feel, they can make the ball do whatever - the education and coordination of their foot allows them to take the precise touches everytime to beat players, or to push it into space to lay off a pass, or shot, whatever - focus on touch and control and you'll reach the highest level mighty quick!
if you can control the ball that well, you can really do anything, speed, fitness, change of pace all of that is important, but with cruel and unreal control like these players have you can undobtly do ridiculous things

more matee- you gotta more than that to get as good as they do-- 1,000 juggles a day will get you so good, and such good control with both legs, but you gotta do 1,000 with your right, 1,000 with your left, the "right-left-flick over your head, control- right left flick over your head drill- you gotta do more than juggle 1,000 to get crazy ridiculous touch, 1,000 juggles is amateur, to have an ozeil, iniesta, aguero, touch you have to push that sh*t furtther man - thats just the way it is -
don't worry though, at first all that seemed a lot to me, but seeing quick results and it being a little fun to try and dominate, (practicing a little harder and doing a little more each day) I quickly do it without expecting failure - i expect to get all these drills right the first time, and its weird and very rare not for me to get them right -
and if i can do it, you sure as hell can do it too man, and it WORKS you just need to do it, but it gives you STUPID feel for the ball, out of this world feel, you can do whatever the fu** you want-

klc123 i just posted this in another thread. I think it will work man, i did it for a few days and i went back to speed dribbling with the big ball and it helped for sure, it didn't help my cut or rolling much but hey whatever. I think im going to start using my mini ball again to dribble around my basement and stuff and juggle alot, im going to try and do this for atleast a week straight and see how it goes
This is what Messi did and this is what i have incorporated, its simple.. Whenever you get up to go do something around house, go do it with a tennis ball at your feet dodging any obstacle you go by but not at a relatively fast pace, just a walking pace (even if it just improves your control by a little more, i would do it)
