Pete Doherty Umberto Eco View

Post by p793 » 19 May 2011, 16:22

Pete Doherty, one of my favourite artists of all time. For those that don't know him he is a british rockstar/poet that has been involved with lotsssss of drugs. He was engaged to Kate Moss too. Here is one of my favourite songs:

ANYWAY....
The point of this thread is to ask what he means in this interview, before he was famous. When asked about oasis, he says "i subscribe to umberto eco view that noels a poet and liams a town crier"

Heres the vid..

I want to understand the humour in this, and what he means by it..

This is the closest translation/explanation I could find at such short notice.

^ This, 100% this.

I really have no respect for Pete Doherty, he's not even that good a singer/guitarist. Also his lyrics have an obvious lack inspiration, regardless of the fact that he alone has consumed more drugs in his short life than all of the beetles put together.

I really love his work actually. He's obviously extremely talented and IMO the last of the english poets in the music industry, regardless of his personal life.

Nobody able to explain what he means then?

To answer your question properly, it is complete non sense and has no meaning what so ever.

I love Pete Doherty and Oasis! Some of his work is absolutely brilliant.

Dont let anyone tell you they arent great if you believe they are great. Its a sad thing some of the stuff he gets involved with but most of my biggest heroes are dead or dying because of similar stuff. Doesnt mean they are bad people whatsoever, just destroyed by fame.

God bless'm
