Calories

Post by Konqwest » 03 May 2007, 22:29

So right now im 190 pounds. I need to cut about 25 to get back to my optimum playing weight. My trainer told me that in order to lose weight you must burn more calories then you consume. So at 190 pounds, training everday, playing games twice a week, lifting 3 times a week, running twice a week, and resting on sundays after games. What should be the calories I consume a day? What should I watch not to eat? I am trying to cut my weight down to 175 pounds, but I want to do it healthy and watch my calories and really take care of my body...Any help would be wonderfull.

This is based on 160 pounds so could anyone convert it to apply to 190?

The quanity of your calories is no where near as important as the quality.
Make sure your eating plenty of protein, about a minimum of 1.5 grams per pound of body wieght. Avoid sugar and white flour as much as possible, but instead get your carbs from good sources like brown rice, oats, and sweet potatoes. Good fats are not your enemy, good sources are: nuts, olive oil, etc. Weight training can be very effective in losing weight, as well as cardio. Each pound of muscle burns aproximately 25 calories per day. It's also helpful to eat six small meals a day and consume plenty of water, as it speeds up your metabolism.
