Interesting article about contacts specially tinted for enhanced sports vision:

http://www.wilsondaily.com/print/51887967922241.php

I started wearing contacts at 15 after I demolished 3 pairs of glasses during a season. When the 3rd pair of glasses cut my nose, my Dad took me for a contact fitting the next day. You will like the increase in peripheral vision, the lack of an edge from the lenses, no fogging, and no problems with rain or dirt spots. It will take a week or two to recalibrate your depth perception though. It is different between glasses and contacts.

You can get goggles like Edgar Davids had. My one friend wears prescription sports goggles while he plays, saves the trouble of breaking regular glasses, but also you could just get contacts.

If that is 600 using the 20/20 scale, you have nothing to worry about. I can't see the chart. It is just a rectangle with a gray triangle on it. Doc guessed I was maybe 20/2000. I lose focus beyond 6 inches from my face. The actual number on my contact lens prescription is -8 diopters. My wife has one eye beyond -10 diopters and she can correct that with a hard contact lens.

Prescription sports goggles and contact lenses are your only cheap choices. The goggles are safer, the contacts will give you better vision.

i have high degree too so can't play without glasses. I've bought one adidas model which is like davids used to wear but i've had too much practical problems with them... like in case you get ball in your head you don't see much after as some dirt stays on googles and it's really hard to clear it. It's also problem when dew comes between eye and lence, it's also hard to clear it... and when i was playing in lower temeperatures ( like 8 C ) they used to dew when heat from body came to cold lences...

Main problem of those googles is that you must have "your ( with your degree )" lences between eye and standard lences, so that makes inposible to clean when googles get dirty or wet from inside.

Unfortunately i can't use contacts, and i find it big handicnap when playing matches.

If anybody meets edgar davids please ask him in my name how he solves that problems ( as he uses that model i do )
