ten percent seems like it would be anarexic-not really but...
you want to keep a healthy amount of fat -just not husky.

im sry for bringing back a sort-of old post but, i think alot of the posts on here are a bunch of BS. i only have 5.5% body fat and i am completely healthy. its not my fault that im skinny, i mean, i eat alot! more than anyone in my family, lol, i just have a really high metabolism. so yeah, like 8% and below is not unhealthy at all :? im not an expert on this but watever.

I highly doubt you have a 5.5 body fat percentage, unless you're cutting calories and doing cardio 5 mornings every week. If your using a digital scale that tells your body fat they are usually no where near acurrate, and if your using calipers they can be 2-5% off.

Well, my little brother is 5%body fat, and he is so skinny its unhealthy. he has a high metabolism, and he eats a ton, but he is still unhealthy look. No offense, but you are probably along the same lines, Da_Keeper_315.

I have 5% and I'm not unhealthy. Believe me I used to be a wrestler, and we had to keep up with weight and body fat. As long as your not under 3% your fine.

Where are all of you getting your bf% checked? Water displacement is the only completely accurate technique, and the closest to that is calipers, but they still are slightly off.

between 8 and 12% is good for runners. You need some fat. I myself am at like 6% body fat and i am perfectly ok and in great shape.

there are many american football players that have 1% fat and are in phenomenal shape such as Terrell Owens.

I can see that this topic will be neverending because people will keep saying how some pro NFL players for example like some1 said above are have body fat percentages of 1%. Then other so called "experts" (they like to think they are) will come along and say how that's unhealthy and how u can't survive with below 3% and that they should do accurate tests, LMAO some1 lock this topic.

I agree with A-man 147. What's the point in locking the topic if people can stil voice their opinions or post new pieces of information that they have uncovered?

Yea, I've heard that about him too. And the thing is, if he was measured on a standard scale that all it does is way you and you type in your height, he would probably get a reading around 20-25% body fat because of all the muscle mass. That's how I was measured for body fat percentage, purely by height and weight, so I don't take anything from that measurement because it is so generic how it was calculated.

Edit: I just realized this is my 500th post hooray!!!! lol. Sorry for wasting your time if you read this but 500 posts only comes around once.
