Tips for a beginner?

Post by freestyle_beginner » 20 Aug 2008, 11:45

Hello I want tips for a beginner in freestyle.

I saw a video on youtube:
http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=xxjPqXwk830
and on the 34 sec of the video hes holding the ball on his feet.

I tried this move at home because it looked very easy and I can hardly hold it still. It drops off at 2 sec of less.
So do you guys got some tips?
Do you need to point your toes up or do you need to hold them normal?

Other tips/tricks for beginners are welcome aswell!

It is called a footstall (Cause you stall it on your foot. :P)

Me being a freestyle beginner myself, this is the one trick I can do very well. Of course, practice will make you better the more you do it, but here are some tips to get you started.

1) It is easiest to start out barefoot, so you have a better feel for the ball. What you want to try to do when the ball is on your foot is pin it back against your shin by pointing your toes upward. If you do this well enough, the ball will not be able to roll around, and possibly off your foot. If you feel it is about to, continue pointing your toes back, and move your foot the opposite way to balance.

2) Take the rollup very softly and easily. Start with your foot on top of the ball, and roll it back with your sole. Now, watch the ball. When you see that your toes are pretty much under the center of the ball, now you point your toes and try to pin it to your shin.

Thanks for the reply's

I tried the footstall on my barefoot and it worked sometimes but alot of times I couldn't controll the ball :D

But I think I need to start with the basics like i've read on the forum. You've need to start juggling till you can controll the ball easiely. So I'm going to train that first then I'll try the footstall again.

Thanks for the help guys!

Yeah, that is a good idea, but you wanna know the truth? Before I could juggle three times I was footstalling expertly. :P Different strokes, different folks. But yeah, you can't be hurt by juggling a lot, so I would advise it. Best of luck in your freestyling.
