The Boot vs. Boot Thread

Post by BGbeast23 » 03 Feb 2008, 04:59

If you are having a hard time on picking which boot to get, post your matchups here instead of making and entire topic for it.

Inspiration from Davidson clogging up the "NEW UNRELEASED BOOT" thread with his matchups. :P And John Bob for making me answer his countless number of questions.

This reminds me of the Player vs. Player thread,,So lets follow their principles. So for example, i say "fill-in-the-blank boot vs. fill-in-the-blank boot" And then the next person should choose the boot and write why and at the end of their post, write "fill-in-the-blank boot vs. fill-in-the-blank boot" and on and on..So i start:
Total 90 III vs. Vapor III

Is this a reference to my boot review topic BG? :P

Vapor III of course, they feel light and tight like a sock comfortably, unbelievable, the only boot I've really ever felt happy with. I never got to purchase a pair though, since they didn't have my size, and they don't even stock them in NSW anymore. :(

Total 90 III just seems like a chunky, average boot to be honest imo, it kinda' reminds me of the Predators, good all-rounders, but not too good for flashy moves and quick-bursts etc.

Vapor III

Positives: Light
Apt for quick-turning and speed-bursts
Would suit a winger/attacking role
Comfortable and a glove-like fit

Negatives: Thin-soled, a tad wide-foot unfriendly at first perhaps, but after a bit of use they do anyone's feet wonders
Fabric to tear easily? (not sure)

Total 90 III

Positives: Good all-rounders
Sturdy fabric/boot make-up
All foot-shape friendly

Negatives: Not entirely glove-like for a fit
Not entirely suited to pulling off flashy manouevers etc, perhaps better suited to a midfield or defensive role

Nike Mercurial Vapor IV's (Normal or SL, give both views) vs Puma V1.08's

Did I have the wrong idea with my post Davidson9? Hehe.

I thought it was like the This or That? Post. Damn!

Well anyway, here's my post, it's come down to these two boots to be purchased for my new season of football to come in April: Nike Air Legend II's or Puma V1.08's?!

Air Legend II:
Pros: Kangaroo leather for better comfort, touch and ball feel. Good traction with studs. Air Zoom unit in heel for comfort and support.
Cons: Heavier.

Puma V1.08:
Pros: Carbon Fiber Sole Plate, Lighter.
Cons: Durability may not be as good, may not be "wide-foot friendly"

Combined our two posts for you, Davidson9.

Also, BGbeast, I thought that puma were meant to be "wide-foot friendly", they certainly felt alright compared to Predators etc in terms of width & length. The Air Legend II's fitted my feet perfectly (the extra mm's of length were disliked, but once my feet grow a tad more they should be perfect). Air Legend II's should be alright for all-positions, shouldn't they? Doesn't Carlos Tevez wear them? :)

To Alexio: Legends should be good for any position and Tevez does wear them. Ruud Van Nistelrooy also wears them. They should also be good for defenders, since Paolo Maldini wears Legends. People say that it's more of a center mid's boot, but as long as they're comfortable and you like the way you feel and play in them, it shouldn't matter.
I haven't tried on the new Pumas yet, but they just looked like they might be a litle narrow.

Vapor III:
Pros: Lighter, but only by 0.1 ounce.
Cons: Narrower, so wide foot players may not fit in them as well.

Vapor IV:
Pros: Wider fit, so all foot types can fit in them.
Cons: Heavier, but only by 0.1 ounce.

If that happened, Vapors would win every time. Boring...

you guyz have to choose one of the boots..Like for example, boot1 vs. boot2
and the next guyz chooses the boot1 and gives why he chose the boot1 and why not boot2..So here goes:
Vapor III vs. Legend II

This isn't a game. This thread is to help people who are having trouble on deciding what boot to get. You're not over-taking my thread. :x
