defenders hate forwards that can run at them with the ball at speed. However, saying that, slow down when you get to the defender, hold on to the ball by keeping it close using small touches, make a move and "explode" past the defender

well no kid wants to wait in line for their turn to "dribble around the cones" per se. However, kids do enjoy dribbling races or other games that will improve their dribbling.

i love playing on bad fields...b/c when you go to a nice field, controlling the ball is so much easier. You just need to relax and try to anticipate where the ball is going to bounce...

Why do you think the brazilians have awesome control? b/c they played on rock hard, grassless surfaces...

ok 1. Relax, don't tense up, if you do tense up, you won't control the ball properly 2. Breathe normally 3. Look around you (what are you going to do with the ball once you receive it?) 4. Move to the ball 5. Move your foot up, and pretend the ball is an egg and will splatter unless you "cushio...

to OP, i know what you're trying to get at...but by playing and watching as much soccer as you can you will learn when the right and wrong times are to dribble. For example, you DO dribble in the opponent's box but not in your own box...

You are young and want to play high level soccer?

First of all, kids need basic ball mastery touches!!!! You are going to need to challenge them with games, and exercises - not drills! Kids at this level hate drills, and all that standing around and waiting between turns is silly and unproductive, not to mention a breeding ground for chatter boxes....

Setting up a practice for kids

This is what i realized we must do: We must set up your practice to contain a warmup, a technical lesson that most likely will look like a drill, then move into games that emphasize the use of that skill. You stop them during the games during "teaching moments" to encourage and remind them...
