Whilst Messi is a worthy winner I can't help but wonder who would have won if it was done in the old format, e.g. only journalists voting on the Ballon D'Or. Out of the three finalists Xavi would have had my vote, although admittedly perhaps partly out of nostalgia as he is 31 and may not get anothe...

I would have thought that a vuvuzela would make an excellent vessel through which to discover alcohol.

Yes. Why wouldn't they? It's vegans that steer clear of all animal products.

Let us not forget, guys, that there's total prohibition in Qatar. No drinks at the games; in fact, it's a crime to drink alcohol or be drunk anywhere. Can't see that going over too well with too many. Actually they said that they would permit the sale and consumption of alcohol in certain places du...

He does this a lot:

What I love about Iniesta is how simple his style is, or at least appears to be. Nothing too flashy; just doing the basic things very well and very quickly.

Also he covers a lot of ground during games.

I am not surprised that your parents won't buy you shakes because they can be very expensive. Speaking as a vegetarian I would advise you to be more creative with your nutrition. Variety is important because it ensures that you get all of the 'essential' amino acids. Bread doesn't have that much pro...

Some of my thoughts on the matter... Can't say I'm too surprised about either verdict, although England going out in the first round of voting wasn't what I thought would happen considering the other unsuccessful candidates. It would be very stupid for the England bid team to criticise both Fifa and...

Last night Barcelona didn't beat Real Madrid at football. They looked like they were playing another sport altogether.

Depends on your goal but if you want to put on weight then both approaches would help.

To matt; is atheism a belief but not a faith? I think the best way to answer that is to say that atheists believe that there is no God, and that that belief is not borne out of faith. Instead I weigh up the pros and cons of each argument and make a rational choice. Sorry I know that still isn't par...

I wouldn't say atheism is an assumption, it is a belief. Rather like Christianity or most other religions. The difference in my opinion is that whilst atheism is rooted in scientific reasoning, rationality and physical evidence (e.g. for evolution), the major religions are based on faith, which ofte...

I think Pep knows how to manage Barcelona very well. LIke no one else really. But if he went to a different team, I don't think he'd be anywhere as successful as he is with Barcelona. Unless he had the type of players that Barca have, which no one does. I'd agree with that. He is getting more out o...

Absolutely, a godless person is perfectly capable of wronging his fellow man. This goes back to a post I made in the debate a few pages back - my view is that the only judgments you get for your actions come from yourself, your society and your peers, the rest of mankind basically! Personal failure ...

I think Rafael will turn into a good right back someday. He just needs to get more games. I think he's already a really good right back already, he's improved drastically from last season, let's not forget that he's only 20. Our best right back IMO. I think I would rather have Wesley for the big ga...
