Strength, height and power

Hi... I am currently playing in the Santos Youth Team (U17) and I am encountering a few problems.... I play with one of my good american friends, and he is about 6,1 about 14 stone and strong as an ox.... we play very well together and are very creative and strong dribblers. I am about 5,9 about 10 ...

It is likely that you have either, broken/fractured/or both one of your metatarsuls. They can take a while to heal, and i reccomend you go see a doctor. Your foot might have to be put in plaster.

I am very quick, but there are times where I can only hold up the ball, and am usually muscled out of the ball. I am not small, I am big and strong, it is just the people I play against are exceptionally big and strong. I was wondering if anyone knew any techniques that would allow me to sheild the ...

Playin against bigger people

Hi... I aint been here for a while, but I'm back! LOL...

Anyways... I was wondering, how do you play against people that are alot heavier than you? Can easily knock you off the ball? I play for the Santos youth Team, and alot of people are bigger than me there.

Cheers

In my opinion, he just cant beat a fullback, and he's a WINGER!!! He cant win balls in the air, all he can do is pass the ball and take a freekick...

Good questions Johnny. I find that of you are playing striker, then it is imperative you make space, if you dont have it, you arent gonna have much chance of scoring. Try turning and twisting, change of pace, go inside of a defender, then outside, try a few dribbling tricks etc. When you are in the ...

Yeah I agree with Expert, you NEED to be able to execute all moves at any moment, if you know what I mean, and be able to produce those tricks when in ANY situation.

The key to developing "advanced" tricks is to link them together creatively, eg, stepover then cruyff turn etc...

Try to look for the unexpected. Try the 40 yard pass across the pitch, or that throughball you thought you couldnt make, or that long shot that you dont think will go in, everything unexpected will enhance your creativity. If you dont think its going in, most likely THEY dont think its going in.

I find if you can get one of your mates or sibling to play with you, and you allow them to pass the ball into from different angles, and you practise controling the ball and running and shooting into a goal.

The best development you can hope to do would to be critical in your analysis of how you play. Analise how you perform, what your weaknesses are, and try to develop them. However, don't neglect other attributes. The best training you could do is balanced, but with a little more focus on your weaknes...
