No offense to Milner, and he probably knows more about sports science then me, but protein shakes would not be the best thing STRAIGHT after playing. Your best bet, I assure you, are lollies, or watermelon/dates. All 3 of these are high in simple carb's, and high in GI, meaning that they will be abs...

Certainly sir! Now come lay down, and think.... Think of that time your father touched you, and - *Rome crying* - it's OK Rome, let it out....

Oh Butler! Here at one please! I don't want to see that dastardly moon ascend in the sky one more time! Get rid of it, it's an eye-sore!

GI In Sports Drinks

Hey guys, just one question that hopefully someone has some knowledge about: how does the high GI in isotonic sports drinks not trigger a 'crash' in energy/blood sugar levels, I don't understand how they can deliver sustained energy, unless the energy is meant to come in a hit, and drop later? Cheer...

Yer Rome's got the right idea. It can be hard to fulfill your nutritional needs when your foods are very limited, but there are various 'liquid meal' type foods like Up N' Go, which is a liquid breakfast milk that is popular here, you most likely have some decent commercial liquid meal replacements ...

On another note, hyperthetically wouldn't lollies be the best thing to eat on a rest day. Simple sugars, high in GI, that means th quickest possible absorption, sounds legit to me.

I payed nearly 20 bucks for the IPod touch version of final fantasy III, and I hate it haha, it's just not my type of game. I mean when I was a little poke on maniac I loved those type of rpg games, but ff is just to simplistic for me,

I used to watch a ton of tv when I was younger not so much anymore unless its a soccer game. Anyways some of my favorites over the years Friends- you just can't go wrong with this one. My favorite tv show. The Tudors- good show if you like that period of time. Its about Henry VIII all his wives of ...

Again, I'm not sure mate, not exactly, only you can say how much is enough/not enough, but generally it seems fine what your doing. A word of advice though, don't go out there and kill yourself, don't muck around when it comes to your respiratory. If your finding yourself gasping for life at the sta...

It depends on what you like man. I'll take it that you like thrillers from what you've previously watched. In this case, I highly suggest Criminal Minds, it's amazing. One of my favorites, actually probably my most favorite, is How I Met Your Mother. It's not just hilarious, but it doesn't skimp of ...

Thanks for all the helpful posts everyone. I'll try and get her interested in a sport! She's a very keen casual dancer around the house, so I will try and get her nagging my parents about it. I can't really do much myself at the moment, because I'm never home to influence her or take her for walks, ...

My Unhealthy Little Sister

She's only 5 years old, but she eats horribly, I can't stand to watch the junk she eats. She has a half-decent breakfast (usually because I make it!), but a lot of the time she won't eat it, she'll go to the pantry, get lollies, biscuits, and eat them. She doesn't eat like loads and loads of it, she...

Rest Day Nutrition?

Hey guys.

On my rest day, is there any more specifics to what I should be eating? Obviously carbs I guess, carbs are always a large proportion of my diet, but on my off-day before my game should I focus on higher GI carbs for quicker absorption? Or does it not particularly matter.

It's up to you mate, the length depends on your fitness level, how much time you have, the intensity of the drills, etc... Through trial and error you will get a good length.

Yes, a 1:1 ratio is ideal (high intensity: low intensity/rest).
