Some injuries aren't just niggling, they require surgery. I am an expert in this area, having completely torn or ruptured an ACL, a biceps tendon, and an achilles. All of which required surgery to reconnect. Then there are the back, hip, and rotator cuff strains, but those could be rehabilitated wit...

After several painful weeks I found that I needed stability and coordination a lot more than aerobic endurance. Footwork drills such as JM Kings 20 minute mini practice helped a lot to get my legs and body u...

I just drilled down through the bodybuilder.com site for soccer specific strength training and found one article that was pretty good: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/issa49.htm (Funny thing about ISSA - it was started by Fred Hatfield, aka Dr. Squat of www.drsquat.com). However, the bodybuilding wo...

Here are some hints on structuring weight training sessions: 48 to 72 hours recovery between sessions. Therefore 2-3 sessions a week for the same lifts or muscle groups. Recovery becomes very important if you get really strong, then you might go to alternating heavy and light (aka speed/don't get so...

First, don't give up on squats. It will take some time to learn to do the movement smoothly and correctly. Stick with very light weight and focus on coming up smoothly and explosively (with acceleration). When rehabbing injuries, I've used nothing but a broomstick for several weeks until my form fel...
