I'm interested in the thought process other footballers use when the ball is approaching them. How do you judge when to begin withdrawing your foot (in order to control it) - do you wait until it is a certain distance away? And how do you judge how far back to pull your foot from the point of impact...

I've not heard that phrase before! Do you mean to bring the ankle through the ball and then through an imaginary line on to the target?

Can I just ask you which area is used by professionals for a power strike on goal, for hitting it straight and low? Would it be on the top of the instep, or more on the side (blue area on the photo)?

Hi everyone :) Attached is my foot with annotations. The red circle is my contact point when I strike the ball on goal; it is the arched area of the foot. The black line is my first metatarsal from the big toe. The blue box is the area just to the inside of the metatarsal and is, I think the hardest...
