I know this is a double post but I came back after a few hours to see what I wrote. I meant to write "also keeps your foot from acting like a wall" instead of ball. I did the same mistake a bit later when I should have wrote "throwing a ball against a wall." The quotes are what I meant to write.

Your foot has to be pretty relaxed and as the ball makes contact with your foot, your foot rebounds backwards a bit. The foot rebounding backwards helps dissipate the momentum of the ball and also keeps your foot as acting like a ball. Try throwing a ball against the ball (or in the air) and only co...

Turning guide

I noticed a few posts asking how to turn effectively when a man is on your back. As an offensive player one has to turn the ball a majority of the time when receiving a pass as opposed to defenders who usually win the ball and receive back passes that they rarely have to turn with. So I think turnin...

I love Terry's presence but I have to be biased and say Gerrard. The fact that his team always contends in the Champions League and for top honors in the EPL without an all-star roster speaks volumes for him. Look at Chelsea and Man U. They have tons of high priced guys and names, yet Liverpool is a...

I mean since the world cup (2006) to today. Henry had a bad season due to injury but you'd still probably pick him in the top 30. Since C. Ronaldo, Messi, and Kaka have started really progressing they would be good picks. But guys like Rivaldo, Ronaldo, Figo, etc. wouldn't necessarily be easy picks ...

Top 30 players in the world?

I saw an article stating that Becks is in the top 30 players of the world. I wanted to see who the other 29 would be regardless of position. I'll start it off with some obvious picks. I want to just note that players have to be playing professional football in some capacity. So unfortunately Zidane ...

Use a move and speed, speed, speed if there is loads of room. If it is a really small field pass/shot fakes work wonders to get open alleys to really shoot or to burn the defender. 1-2 passes open up a lot more if you can get one step on your marker.

I hear you man. I have the weakest shot yet I rack up assists, crosses, and make plays constantly and consistantly as a c. mid or wing. I have a striker that gives me the credit every time I assist him and a few guys on my team that say "Nice cross" once in a while. But I do see what you mean. It is...

As far as your arms go, doing pullups, presses, bench will get your arms pretty jacked. But if you feel like doing some extra curls, dips, etc. you can do them as long as you don't feel too sore (in those areas) on leg days. Don't overwork your muscles. Soreness is good, but give your muscles time t...

If you workout during the week you can break it up like this (five days): Day 1: Chest 3 sets of 6 reps of barbell bench press. 4 sets of 8 reps of dumbell incline press. 2 sets of as many as you can do pushups. Day 2: Quads 3 sets of 6 reps of squats. 4 sets of 8 reps of leg press. 2 sets of 15 of ...

Another thing that might help (besides working on pure foot speed and agility drills) is to think of playing soccer defense like playing b-ball defense. Use lateral quickness (shuffling) to cut off passing angles, use your body to jockey for position on 50/50 balls, watch the dribbler's torso/body l...

This is a total coincidence but in a game last night (after I read your post earlier that day) a kid tried pretty much what you described. It didn't work as well because he flicked it out of bounds for a goal kick. But as I was defending him I just waited until he did what you described. A bit eerie...
