klc - the point of football is for your team to score more goals then their team. Nowhere does it say you have to dribble past every player you come up against - if there's a simple pass on then pass the ball! The best players are the ones that understand that the beautiful game is sometimes the sim...

Hi beautiful_futbol, You can tape your feet up with zinc oxide strapping tape, around the areas that tend to blister. I tend to get blisters on the undersides of my big toes, so I wrap a bit of tape around them and it really helps. In the longer term, you can harden up the skin locally by applying s...

DR17 - I don't really understand this thread. Knee braces usually provide stability in the event that your knee joint is unstable. But, if your doctor actually says they they're optional, then surely you can just ditch them and run/play without? If your knees are actually unstable to the point that ...

I'd recommend taping over bracing. Braces are bulkier than a layer of strapping tape, so your boots won't fit properly any more. If you put your boots on over a brace anyway, I've found that my touch goes and everything feels odd. Taping is just as effective but without the bulk. How you tape depend...

It's common after ankle injuries for the muscles and tendons on the back of the legs to tighten up - this is because your body is trying to protect the foot by keeping all the muscles as tense as possible. It's usually your calves, but it could explain some of the tightness. One of the rehab exercis...

Hey Anymi, I'm totally a lurker on this site - I only very occassionally log in and actually post something. But I come on here and have a look most days to see if I can pick up some new tricks :D As you mention the community is great but is experiencing a slow death. New people just aren't visiting...

At Euro 2008, Spanish midfielder Xavi ran 11,446 meters (i.e. more than a 10K fun run!) during the final against Germany, most on his team I always find distance a pointless statistic - this only works out at 4.7mph (with a 15 minute break in the middle too) - which is just a brisk walking pace on ...

World record for a marathon is 2:04.26. I don't believe you run 25 miles in 2:00 every sunday. That's elite running speed - and we're talking kenyans etc here! Long distance running is all about conditioning your body to physically run for that long a time (impact on your joints, mental conditioning...

But if you add sodium and glucose to water...

water + sodium + glucose = sports drink

surely? That's basically all they are. Plus some snazzy things like electrolytes etc, but sports drinks are mainly designed for hydration through the mechanisms you've described I think

I agree with BGBeast. The pressure is all on the penalty taker - no-one blames the keeper for not making a penalty save, but if you miss the target because he puts you off then you're in trouble. Just pick your corner and hit it hard and ignore everything else. And hit the target!!

I always meant to comment that this is a great guide. I think that some "real" images to explain some of your features would be great - i.e., a photo of your bare foot from above, with the instep highlighted, or get a friend to take a photo of your body angle from behind - or even a photo(s) of the ...

I found playing head-tennis really improved my heading actually... As others have said, just getting a friend to cross balls in to you is the best way to practice it. Practising it down the park will let you learn how to get yourself in the right place in the air at the right time without any pressu...
