I'm a youth defender trying out for a soccer team this year, and there were a couple things that i have questions about. Whenever you come one-on-one,face-on, with an offense player who has the ball, what are the best options for getting the ball away? | |
When facing an attacker one-v-one you should delay. Never blindly dive in and hope that you will come out with the ball. Try and force him to one side of the pitch. Angle yourself toward the direction you want the attacker to go and, especially in youth football, the attacker will likely mess up by himself. Tackle only if you see the attacker push the ball out far enough so that he doesn't have control over it. by Expert 05:34:59 Tuesday 7 November 2006 |
