When I receive the ball as a striker I rush things. How do I not rush things and how do I stop looking at the ball when I receive it and instead look for teamates? And what is the best thing for a striker to do with a back to the goal, with midfielders pushing up and without? Thank you 4 your help. |
You rush things when you’re uncertain about what to do.
Your first job as a player is to know what is happening around you.
When you don’t have the ball, scan the field and locate the nearest enemies and teammates.
This is especially important when you have your back to the enemy goal.
Constantly look over your shoulder and be aware of how much time/space you will have once you get the ball.
By the time you receive the ball, you should already have come up with at least one good passing, dribbling or shooting option.
Once the ball is at your feet, there is no need to rush things, simply execute whatever you had planned.
Even if your decision doesn’t happen to be the most appropriate, make sure you go through with it as well as you can.
Regarding your question as to when to make runs, go over the previous answer named “When to make through ball runs and when to check back.”
