I heard from a friend of mine that I could the ball can be hit with more speed by angled approach,an you please tell me the way to kick it in this way in step-by- step guidance?
Generally, approaching the ball at an angle is only appropriate for a few kicking techniques: when curving the ball or when using the instep drive. If you want to curve or bend the ball, you approach it an angle in order to get a more “natural” swing. You may know that when bending the ball you swing your foot not straight at your target but in direction slightly aside of it. It would be more difficult to run straight to the ball and swing in another direction.
When driving the ball with the instep, approaching it at an angle will give you more power in your swing. This is due to the fact that a powerful kick requires the use of your entire body. If you observe a boxer, you will notice that hard punches are not produced from simply extending the arm. Forceful hits involve the weight of the boxer’s body. He retracts one shoulder and turns his entire upper body before unwinding and thrusting his fist forward. The same concept applies in soccer: powerful kicks require using your whole body.
Approaching the ball at an angle aligns your body so that the hip of your kicking leg is slightly behind the other. Concentrate on retrieving your kicking foot as far back as you can. Do not try to swing too hard. Power comes from good technique and clean striking surface.
