Results so far:
Egypt 3-0 Lybia Morraco 0-0 Cote d'ivoren Cameron 3-0 Angola DR.Congo 1-0 Togo Tunisia 4-0 Zambia Guinea 1-0 South Africa Sorry about the mispelled names of countries, I had to get this of a non-english website. Also as new results became available please post them. What do you think about the cup so far? |

yea well i like it alot, the level is pretty high and all the games are interesting. I don tknow if yall get to watch them but im very impressed with the level of african play. sum people on this website thought that all da african teams had a low level or i dont know wat else. but most of the players are in europe and they are making da cup very interesting.
angola, togo, and ghana are all disqualified. 3 of the 4 teams that are supposed to go to the world cup. ghana had a hard group with senegal and nigeria and zimbabwe (or zambia) cant remember. south africa was disgraced even though they have a good squad. i noticed da pienard guy from ajax was missing. alot of teams had missing players( essien,muntari, stuff like dat) senegal is playing well but they dont score many goals. they make nice plays and all that but they lack that final shot that will make da ball go in the net. cameroon is lighting this cup up. etoo scored 5 goals in 3 games. he already beat the record of last yr. the guy is crazy. there are beautiful goals being scored in this championship. and people say that all the "big" teams who failed to qualify for the world cup will be working hard for the cup. cameroon, nigeria, (senegal?) yea gotta bounce

quarter finals
senegal 3- guinea 2 nice game with very nice goals except for guinea's first goal. egypt 4 - Democratic republic of congo- 1 . congo was unlucky they had a promising team with a couple of famous players who didnt play ( nonda recovering from surgery). Egypt had 3 suspended players but they still won. i noticed that mido wasnt playing but they didnt need him anyways. most of their goals came from long balls. congo's defence has problems but they had an outstanding goalie. Egypt's goalie also is aging and is not as good as before but no strikers scored from his mistakes tomorrow its Nigeria vs Tunisia( nigeria want their revenge cuz tunisia knocked them out in 2004.) and tunisia will want to win another cup. Cameroon vs Cote D'ivoire( ivory coast.) cameroon will be pissed cuz ivory coast were the one's who snatched the world cup qualification from cameroon. and ivory coast will be wanting to finally beat cameroon. b/c during the qualifications for the world cup cameroon beat ivory coast twice. I hope Drogba will be able to play cuz he was injured. and Eto'o will want to score some more goals.

i forgot to add that egypt will be playing against senegal for the semi finals.
and the winners of tomorrows two matches will play each other. its unlucky that guinea didnt qualify because they had a promising team which i really liked. congo and guinea were underdogs that played very well during this CAN.

where do you watch the games? i mean it seems like you know a lot about them, so i'm assuming you're watching them. where can i at least get highlights? i've been following it in the news, but it's not the same as seeing it happen. go nigeria!!!

i watch em on tv. im in africa so several tv channels broadcast the games. this is the best CAN ive ever seen. im pleased with how the level of football has risen.

cameroon vs ivory coast- tough game. they went all the way into penality kicks. 11 goals were scored for each team. no body missed. even the goalies didnt miss. then when it was eto'o's turn to go again he missed. he didnt have as much composure as the first time and looked very nervous. then drogba scored the last goal. so its gonna be ivory coast into the semi finals. etoo was very unlucky because he had been performing very well. 5 goals in 4 games. and cuz he was runnin his mouth off.
Nigeria vs Tunisia- I didnt watch the whole game but here's wut happened. Nigeria scored early in the first half. then tunisia missed a penalty. but later scored from a header. these two teams took it to penalties too. and nigeria won it. A wierd thing that happened was that martins took the penalty with his right foot. but apparently he is a lefty. wierd. well it messed the keeper up. but imagine martins had missed. so the semi finals are gonna be: Senegal vs Egypt(host) Nigeria vs Ivory Coast.

oh, i didn't realize you were in africa. what part? i'm really looking forward to the nigeria-cote d'ivoire game. should be a real thriller. too bad i won't get to watch it...

im in senegal, dats why i get to watch the games. I wish you guys could watch it too, the level of african play has risen considerably.
I think Nigeria will win it cuz they have more experience than ivory coast. Ivory coast did well against cameroon and i was surprised too see them not lose because of the pressure. But it would be nice for ivory coast to be in the finals. I think Egypt will win it because they have a good squad and are at home. Their Goal keeper dusnt perform as well sumtimes. Senegal has a good squad but something's wrong wit da team. some players are getting older.(el hadj diouf says he's from '81 but there are rumors that he changed his date of birth, and he cant finish a game nowadays. hes too tired) but they got sum good strikers.and midfielders they jus trying to put younger players in the team so its normal that the team isnt as solid sometimes.

i really wish i could see ivory coast-nigeria. on one hand, i want to root for the underdogs, but i can't let down okocha. i predict 2-1 to nigeria.
i haven't really analyzed the other game until right now. i think it will be a close one, but i predict 1-1, and senegal win in extra time or penalties. Hala Galacticos |

In the Ivory Coast-Nigeria game I think The Ivory Coast will win. I have no particular reason its just a feeling. In the Senegal vs. Egypt game I think the host will win because of home field adventage.

El Hadj diouf has malaria, Ferdinand Coly has an injury i think its a groin injury. Egypt have Mido injured but they have many other quality players. they also have the pressure of 80 000 fans. oh yea the senegal assistand coach says that this will be the Last CAN for most of his players so they will be extra motivated to win. Ivory Coast proved that they earned their spot in the world cup, and they are also playing for the people of ivory coast cuz they want the country to stop the war and unify. the thing that people dont know is that several of the teams that qualified have a war going on at home. (DR of congo, ivory coast, and guinea.) the senegal egypt game is tomorrow at 5 gmt

i knew about okocha being injured. he's always been a big influence for me, and i just don't want to see his country lose. i didn't know diouf was out though, that may affect senegal's progression. combining that and the home support, i change my prediction to egypt to win.
also, what's this about a war in ivory coast? i knew about the congo dr, and i think i knew about guinea, but not ivory coast. is it just like a civil war or what? Hala Galacticos |

ivory coast- civil war. north vs south, been goin on for 4 yrs so far.
ivory coast vs nigeria- ivory coast won 1-0. I didnt watch this game cuz i was in skool. senegal vs egypt- damn..... it was an interesting game with a horrible referee. He is from cameroon. Why would u have a cameroonian ref for a senegal match??Cameroon and Senegal don't really have political problems, but some cameroonian people dislike senegalese people because they think that senegalese people come to cameroon to steal all the jobs. This game was very good. senegal played well everywhere except for defence. The two goals they took were because of defensive problems. not because of the ref. The first one was a penalty. This inexperienced left mid touched the ball with his hand on purpose because he was too short to head it out. the second one was from a cross and the egyptian attacker who replaced mido(mido was real mad and started cussing his coach out) yea dat striker scored a header. there were two senegalese defenders on him but they didnt do anyting. The senegalese goal was beautiful. a curving header from a long ball. we culd have scored in the end too but issa ba missed. Not an easy match especially with 80,000 egyptian fans in the stadium. so far one goal was conceded and one goal was missed by two inexperienced players. B4 the cup started i was afraid that senegal would get disqualified because of their younger players, and i was right. They were trying to integrate yung peeps for da newer generation and all that.... The referee was horrible in the end of the match a senegalese player(diomansy kamara from west brom) was taken down in the box. this was a blatant foul, but the ref didnt do anything. this was our opportunity to win the game.... ahhh. horrible horrible refereeing throughout the match. seems to me that he was payed to do this. My opinion. If you had watched the game you would of thought the same thing. Its sad that we didnt make it to the final because of bad refereeing. Most of our key key key players will be gone next time, and this was their last chance to win a cup. 
It's sad how africa is corrupted. There are wars going on all over the place and yet no one tries to make it better. Its horrible. There are also african countries who hate each other for stupid reasons. They think they are superior to other african countries. it truly is sad. There is corruption in governments everywhere. In most african countries the president steals some of the government's money, and their is no progress going on. No body outside of africa knows of this corruption. Its sad cuz when i go to the states they know nothing about africa. they think its some kind of jungle in which lions run around and naked people chase them. I've talked to many black americans who think that Africa is one country and that everyone in africa speaks a single language. Truly sad, cuz they dont even know the continent of their origin. Africa got cities and all tha . technology too. its just in sum rural areas that things arent goin well. and the countries never advance because the government is corrupted. Only countries like south africa and some arabic countries are OK. Wuts even sadder is that some people in arabic countries in africa(egypt, morrocco, mauritania) are racist. for example, a cousin of mine was in morocco. she tagged a cab and he stopped. however, when he noticed that she was black he took off. I'm not saying that everyone is racist. Im just letting yall know that sum africans are racist towards others. sorry for the tangeant jus so peeps know more about africa than what they see on the news. If you've got some time later on you should visit africa(THE BETTER PARTS.) the change might be shocking, but in the end you will learn alot of things (culture, stuff like dat.) people are usually very nice and hospitable. Go ivory coast!!!!

i just read the results. i wish nigeria could have made it. do you know if okocha even got to play one last game? it didn't say when i read it. i predicted one of two games right though, so thats not bad.
you're right about africa though. people don't realize there's more to it than jungles and deserts. some friends of mine are going to africa this summer (not sure what country) for some mission work. i'd really like to get a chance to go sometime, it seems like a really interesting continent. maybe i'll make it over in 2010
