Wingers - Top 10 (i got this info from a website)
Arjen Robben (Bayern Munich & Netherlands) Arjen Robben has that deadly combination of pace and skill that frightens defenses. He also has end product, with an impressive goalscoring record over the years. Injuries have undermined him, but when on song, there are few better wide players in the world game. Deemed surplus to requirements at Real Madrid, Robben proved an instant hit after a 2009 summer move to Bayern Munich. Robben has also represented PSV Eindhoven and Chelsea. The major criticism is that the Dutchman tends to fall to ground too easily and his penchant for the theatrical can leave defenders seething. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSEJe6BCwVk DRIBBLE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-M1QiB_tslA GOALS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1SkkcRX ... re=related COMPLIATION ----------------------------------- Franck Ribery (Bayern Munich & France) The highly coveted Ribery signed a new contract with Bayern Munich in May 2010. No wonder the Bavarians were so desperate to keep hold of him. The Frenchman has an abundance of skill and trickery, as well as an ability to break into the box and score goals from his left-wing position. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whKthdbS2Lc DRIBBLING http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4EFx4mLTuc GOALS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_WZd-4QThI COMPLIATION ----------------------------------- Florent Malouda (Chelsea & France) The Frenchman has moved into more of a central role under Carlo Ancelotti at Stamford Bridge but still wreaks havoc down the flanks. Took time to hit his stride for Chelsea, but he grew in stature throughout 2009 and his goals are invaluable for the Blues. Excellent close control, superb dribbling skills and a knack of being in the right place at the right time to finish off moves. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIVrtyswVLs SKILLS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVOTFXRMs0E GOALS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zGVHBKcA8E COMPLIATION ----------------------------------- Gareth Bale (Tottenham & England) The Welshman is living proof of a player’s capacity to improve out of all recognition. Bale used to be the curse of Tottenham - playing in 25 matches in which the club did not win once – but he was rejuvenated by manager Harry Redknapp who moved him into left midfield. Bale is a valuable source of goals from the wing, and it is his marauding runs and excellent crossing that make him such an asset. Bale gained European recognition when he scored a hat-trick against Inter Milan in a 2010 Champions League match at the San Siro, and masterminded a 3-1 win against the same opposition in the return. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pp0ZUdopxjY DRIBBLE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JvDSwFtEC0 GOALS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVfaiNfnQ2Q COMPLIATION ----------------------------------- Pedro (Barcelona & Spain) Pedro’s form was so impressive for Barcelona in the 2009-10 season that he kept Thierry Henry out of the starting line-up. The only player to score in six competitions (la liga, Champions League, Copa del Rey, European Super Cup, Spanish Super Cup and the World Club Championships) in one year as Barca swept all before them, Pedro has the happy knack of being in the right place at the right time. His transition from reserve team player to first team regular happened extraordinarily quickly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-VuVVrbFz1o GOALS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07unh0ioDP4 COMPLIATION ----------------------------------- Angel Di Maria (Real Madrid & Argentina) The young Argentine’s form for Benfica in the 2009-10 season persuaded Real Madrid to part with $30 million for his services. Di Maria boasts lightening pace, quick feet and the sort of trickery that leaves defenders’ heads spinning. A world under-20 championship winner and an Olympic gold medallist with Argentina. Jose Mourinho’s first mega-money signing at Real Madrid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=855nkmaawgw GOALS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMaSXFnY ... re=related COMPLIATION ----------------------------------- Nani (Manchester United & Portugal) The Manchester United star has undergone a complete transformation. After initially struggling at Old Trafford, the Portugal international rose to prominence in 2010 and has not looked back. Nani’s technical ability has never been in question, unlike his end product and work rate. Now he is producing on a regular basis and is one of the first names on Sir Alex Ferguson’s team sheet. The player has also added goals to his game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Z49y5YglfY DRIBBLE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJ8oFEO6NVo GOALS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qi8XAS_lGIU COMPLIATION ----------------------------------- Milos Krasic (Juventus & Serbia) Krasic really stepped it up in 2009, shining in Serbia’s run to the 2010 World Cup and in CSKA Moscow’s Champions League campaign. He has plenty of flair and knows where the goal is. The flame haired winger was the subject of much interest from European clubs throughout the summer of 2010 and finally signed for Juventus in August of that year. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DuB9f1rVY3c DRIBBLE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhEqNYptsos GOALS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTKKgbERdOM COMPLIATION ----------------------------------- Jesus Navas (Sevilla & Spain) Travelling to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa was a big step for Navas who suffers from chronic homesickness and used to walk out of training camps with Spain because they were too far away from Seville. One of the most exciting players in La Liga on his day, the Sevilla youth product would not look out of place at Real Madrid or Barcelona. He can beat defenders for fun and regularly features high up in La Liga’s assists chart. His nervous mental state reportedly cost him a move to Chelsea a few years ago. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzR9N5gHndY COMPLIATION ----------------------------------- Aaron Lennon (Tottenham & England) The Tottenham Hotspur star has had his injury problems over the years. Since he started crossing the ball consistently well, the England winger has matured into a permanent thorn in defenses up and down the land. One of the quickest members of this top 10, Lennon can beat full-backs with ease, and really came alive in the 2009-10 season. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CYd2CR-KoE COMPLIATION |

The only one that bedazzles me is Pedro and this is not based on our Barca chat.
The rest I agree with. Id have Downing, Young, Johnson, Turan, Sanchez over Pedro. |

Downing and Young? You cant have watched Aston Villa much this season. Those two couldnt kick their own back sides in the past 6 months.
As for the list i'm sorry to have to disagree with two players I really like, Jesus Navas and Milos Krasic who have both failed to deliver. I especially like Krasic and it is only his first season in "the big time" so he can still deliver. Sevilla arnt having their best season in recent years which could in part explain Navas's lack of form. As for additions i'm shocked that no one has mentioned Cristiano Ronaldo! Surely still classed as a winger? ![]() People who say something cannot be done are often surprised by others doing it. |

And Cronaldo and Messi, and Ozil...or are they all "creative midfielders" now?
The wingers are a dying breed unfortunately |

Turan and Sanchez definitely should get a mention, they are probably better than most of these guys. Marin and Gervinho are pretty good as well they may be outside mids though im not sure. I believe Lavezzi is a winger for argentina hes pretty solid. As for C Ronaldo he should not be on the list, any player that doesn't attempt to play defense isn't a soccer player in my opinion, hes lazy and wants the glory for himself. He's cheating the game. Disgusting.

Why shouldn't he be classed as a soccer player? He preserves his energy for forward thinking attacks rather than draining his energy running box to box all game, and it pays divedence as you can see from his outstanding goalscoring record. I seriously don't understand you sometimes, Collin.

Aaron Lennon (Tottenham & England) I'm going to disagree with this one wholeheartedly. This guy's not even always first choice for club or country when he IS fit. It may just be me, but I'm a big Michel Bastos fan ![]() And the dreams that you dare to dream, really do come true |

when i watched bayern munich play, thomas muller was playing as a winger, and looked really impressive.
antonio valencia is still very much a classic winger, but its true that its a dying breed. |

scotty i wouldnt consider ronaldo a winger anymore to be honest.... he started off as that but now instead of destroying down the flank to make a cross or a pass to the "9" players play him the ball for him to score... ehh he's his own type of player, like he's the constant center of attention for his team constatly getting passes from ozeil marcelo di maria or who ever it be, wherever it is that he's located... maybe he could fit in to the "10" category....
i really like ashley young, antonio valencia, lenon, navas, david silva to know Him is to want to know Him more" "i don't know where the limit is, but I know where it is not" Tocar y moverse y tratarla siempre muy muy bien..' |

What do you mean you don't understand me? He's cheating the game, my grandma can put more pressure on the defense then he does. If i was on the same field as him or if i was his manager i would slap him across the face. He has a piss poor attitude when he loses, wake the fuck up man maybe if you worked a little bit then you wouldn't lose. So annoying i don't understand how anyone on that team can put up with that kind of stuff, he clearly plays for himself and people call him the best in the world? LOL get a grip people hes far from it, atleast Messi tracks back because he willing to do it for his team and battle for his team.

I don't understand you because you come out with outlandish, absurd statements.
How is he "cheating the game" can I ask? He has a personallity and he sulks when things don't go his way, that isn't cheating the game, the opposite if anything, it shows how much he loves the game and get frustrated when things don't go his way. If you think Cronaldo is shit, then you obviously don't have a clue about football. Do you know how many miles you go through per game? Because in your own words anyone who is lazy and doesn't track back to defensive duties shouldn't be called a soccer player. Do you cover more distance than C. Ronaldo every game? I highly doubt it, i'm presuming you classify yourself as a soccer player though, right? |

i would bet my life i run more than C Ronaldo in a game, he probably uses less than half of the fitness he has, and what hes capable of actually running. He's cheating the game because the game is meant to be played with a defense and offense, and clearly he does not do that. Think to yourself what exactly is soccer? 2 teams battling defending and attacking. Key word, AND. Therefore i state him not much of a soccer player, but ill just give him the name an Attacker, thats all he is and all he deserves. I bet you everyone on this forums runs more than he does in a game. you say im the one with no clue? have you ever actually taken the time during a game to not watch just the football but to actually watch whats he's doing. Sitting there on his lazy ass walking around and watching people pass the ball around him, and when he loses it he pretends its a foul or some kind of injury. Maybe not everyone is as strict with these kinds of things i am, but in my club if you lose the ball you better get the fuck back or your done for the rest of the game and your getting kicked in the nuts. Maybe in your club your coach lets you lose the ball and not pressure there back line im not sure, but thats just how i was raised in my club.
