Thats how you fix jumpers or runners knee! :] [long]

Nope.. thats why I hate this injury. Its not like you break your leg or crack your lingaments. There you know what to do: Rest, Ice, surgery etc.
If you get Jumpers knee then you have to find the reason for it otherwise there is no way absolutely no way to return to sports if you treated jsut the inflammation... it will come back and come back and if you countinue doing so (like I did for 3 months) your body just cant deal with it anymore and its chronic. Thats the point where you really have to find the reason of it and thats what is so critical about it. (of course sometimes it is just an overstressing of the patella tendon) reasons can be: - overweight - tight leg muscles - misalignement of the leg - raised knee cap - Tight IT-Band - flat foot - backbone - too less mineral nutrients ..... this can be continued further more.. Even Ribery treated his Jumpers knee by operating his teeth !!! It can be just everything. And I tried nearly 70% of it already (as i wrote in this thread). |

shitfuck... My experience (like I said) with pains like these, ive had lower back pains, knee pains, chest pains is strengthen the muscle area and the pain will go away...
Why dont you do isometric (i think is the word) leg exercises.. Maybe leg raises, or very very very light ones, those are the ones I did when my knee was the size of a watermelon... And I had to lean like a cholo, walk like a cripple it was so bad.. I started by doing slight movements very sloooowly, like lying down and bending a leg, and then straigthening repeating.. I didnt make it up my therapist told me.. Sower and slower the knee got stronger, and the pain went away.. Actually as the inflamation went away, when It was swollen my leg wasnt straight, I could feel how it was become straight again and it popped so delicious.... one of the best feelings.. Search the web, for low intensity isometric exercises.. I think this is what can help you the most now... I dont think that so young and you have to be doomed for ever is correct. Did you drink milk throughout your youth? Are you very skinny? I had a friend fall in a game, the dumbest way and he fractured both arms, he weighs like 135 pounds and is like 5.11.. There has to be a cure for this to know Him is to want to know Him more" "i don't know where the limit is, but I know where it is not" Tocar y moverse y tratarla siempre muy muy bien..' |

No i didnt drink milk at all in my youth.
I used to be relatively skinny but since a few months this is getting a problem too because I cant do any sports (except maybe cycling). When my pain in the knees is at a normal grade I cant make my leg straight (with muscle contraction) without making it worse. And if it is good like it is now im scared of making it worse too. |

Cycle all the way.. do you do it often? I know its not the funnest, but we have to do it dude.. I still do it, just to prevent I think its great for strengthening....
Keep your muscles strong, so the pressure on the actual knee is minimum.. You have to have your muscles super strong, its the price you have to pay.. I have to have my abdominal muscles stronger than normal because I was born with a slight scoliosis that caused me terrible back pain... You have to have your knee muscles super strong.. If you post pictures of your leg (no homo, no schlampe Im no professional but I torn ligaments, and meniscus so I have been studying the knee a lot... I could tell you if it needs strengthening or not or what exercises would help you... It might work, what do you have to loose? Just the pain to know Him is to want to know Him more" "i don't know where the limit is, but I know where it is not" Tocar y moverse y tratarla siempre muy muy bien..' |

As I said earlier in this topic, I got rid of mine for the most part. What did I do? Nothing....absolutely nothing. I just sat on my ass for 14 days. I didnt run on it, didn't stretch it, did massage it. It healed by itself. Then I came back to school after break and it feels great. A little tight sometimes when i sit in the same position for a bit, otherwise great. I also saw derrick rose (basketball player) had kind of the same thing..but his was mild tendonitis. They said you have to strengthen your legs to help prevent furthur pain. So I have been working on my legs a lot more (couldn;t before because of the knee) and as of today..i dont feel a thing. NO pain, no tightness.
So maybe try that out? a little long to do nothing, and i gained weight and got a little out of shape, but im right back in it now. |

I know how you feel haha |

I have rested it for more than 14 days more than 3 times. And when i came back i got it back. And I bet Patoo also rested it for as long as this.
Maybe I am too muscular for playing basketball. But in professional basketball guys also weight 240-260 pounds like I am that is why I don't understand why i suck. My legs are also strong enough i think. The only possible reason is mabye that i have stopped playing basketball years ago, than started bodybuilding gained like 60-70kg-s of mass in the 7 years. Than I lost 35kg-s to play basketball again, and this weight is too much for it. But I played with 325pounds but it was of course not as intense and it was just once or sometimes twice a week. Now I played like 4-5 times a weak. I will not do anything until february, than I will start slowly to come back. I started to rest from any kind of leg activity in 16th of december. |

Lol 14 days of rest would be nothing for me... i rested it since 10 months now! there is no way that i can change something by doing nothing.
It's again slightly worse after i had to jog a bit to the tram :/ |

Then its not jumpers knee or runners knee. my sis has had the same problem, and she got rid of it within weeks. Its gotta be tendonitis. Possibly a severe case if its been ten months. What have doctors told u?

Docs cant help me... just my new doc now tries with acupuncture and some kind of stretching exercices.
As I already mentioned its not a normal jumpers knee, it is chronic. |

It has to do something with my quads, there is no other possibility!
my patella hurts at this part (outside) http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/1411/unbenanntod.png and there is the vastus lateralis connecting to the kneecap. So either my vastus lateralis is to tight or my vastus medialis to weak. Hmm... EDIT: Ok it is me again. And i have some good news. Im without any heavy pain since one whole week now. And even the swelling goes back slowly now. If i wont face any sudden throwback I give me one month to recover. |

Thats a great article.
My situation is getting better and better. The swelling disappeared to nearly 100 % and so the pain. And before the swelling was there all the time. soo hopefully.. im getting rid of it now. But still im a bit aware of the fact, that i felt great a few times ago and instead was disappointed suddenly. |
