Ok so heres a guide i have been write over the week, i though id' share my knowledge about abs with you guys as i've been researching alot about them for myself in the past weeks.
About Your Abs Having a tight stomach. strong lower back, and a great 6-pack is very important for both personal reasons and athletic reasons. Having strong abs is essential for a high sports perfromance, also having tight abs and a strong lower back will enable you to run faster and become alot more explosive. You will also be able to make quicker movements with your upper body, which leads to jumping higher and also making sharp turns and cuts. The midsection connects your upper body to your lower body and allows you to apply the strengh and power collectively in both areas. A stronger midsection will increase your athletic capabilities. The muscles in your midsection are different from the other muscles in your body and need to be trained differently in order to achieve maximum results. If you want to train your abs properly then your need to take these there things in account. 1. Slow Movements .... abs are made up mostly of slow-twitch fibres which requires them to be trained with slow movements for max results. 2. Quantity and Consistency .... Abs need to be trained for muscular endurance, not muscular strengh, which requires many, many repitions that can be performed daily. 3. Variety .... Your midsection consists of different areas, each of which requires different exercises . To train each area, you need to perform a variety of exercises. Variety with any exercise is an essential part of muscle building and athletic training. Varitey allows yout o build and tone every part of the muscle you are training. Below are some of the Exercise that you can do which will improve your abs. You wont need to do all of these just some of them. sit-up Prime Area: Upper abs Start by lying flat on your back with your knees bent and the soles of your feet flat on the floor an then put your hands on your ears. Then using your abs lift the upper half of your body as high as you can. Hold it for a few seconds and then return to your starting position. Repeat this. crunch Prime Area: Upper abs Lying flat on your back with your feet and knee elevated s that your shins are parallel with the floor and then place your hands on your ears. The use your abs to life your upper body about 30 – 40 degrees off the floor. Hold the position for a few seconds, return to starting position and repeat. Tailbone Lifts Prime Area: Lower abs Lie flat on your back with feet and knees elevated so that your shins are parrellel with the floor and put your hands on your ears. Now with your stomach flexed, use your lower abs to rasie your tailbone about an inch or two off the floor . Hold the position for a couple of seconds and return to your starting position. Again repeat. Elbow to Knee sit-up Prime Area: Entire Abs Lie flat on your back with your knees bent and the soles of your feet flat on the floor and place your hands on your ears Now use your abs to raise your upper forwards while lifting your left foot off the floor so that it comes towards your head. Now touch your knee with the opposite elbow, hold the positon for a few seconds then return to starting position and repeat. ---------------------------------------- So there is my guide, I will try to add more exercises in the near future to it but that’s it for now. Feedback welcomed. |

Yes, all this means is that it incorporates obliques as well as abs. Go and do one of these, tell me if it only works your sides. It works all around your abs, so hence, it does more for you then a conventional situp.

Nice guide powell! You posted it when I was in the middle of my abs guide. I don't know if there's any point in finishing it now, though. I guess I'll see...
