Whats the point of wearing base layers?
I'm talking about Nike Crew tight fit, Underarmor Heatgear, or Adidas Compression fit? I can understand int he winter, to keep you warm and mobile, but why in the summer? Is it worth getting? |

I just wear them because I find I don't sweat as much. Perhaps it's a false perception because the sweat doesn't reach my outer layer of clothing, but I seldom go without them. They give me more comfort.
Also, I wear Underarmor under-shorts to help keep my balls in place, akin to a sports bra. If they bounce around in regular underwear, it's very uncomfortable. ![]() All roads lead to Rome. Nowadays there are several types of base layers out there. Some are for cold weather, some warm. They all provide varrying levels of compression. The compression aspect is why I wear them, both a top and bottoms. Studies have shown that a muscle in action loses some of its energy to occillation (vibration) , compression will help to stop that, conserving energy. Also compression seems to help with strains and pulls. If the base layer has a wicking property to it, it will help keep you cool by moving sweat off your body and out to your outer layer where it can evaporite quickly.
