How to purchase World Cup tickets?

Ok, so my coach was telling me that it is very hard to attain tickets to world cup matches without using the black market or buying them from people at games. I had trouble understanding exactly how to buy world cup tickets. I am planning on going to WC2014 and I wanted to figure out how a US citizen could get match tickets. Thanks for the help, and I hope this is the right spot to ask this question.

You have a long time until you have to worry about buying tickets, wait until around 2012, thats when more info will come out for them.
Fifa.com will release updates on how to get tickets as the time comes, but theres no use in worrying about it for a while Bulgaria is our faith, Levski is our Freedom |

For the general public, FIFA have a number of ticket sales. The problem is that you don't know who is playing when you apply for a match as you will be apply (for example) for match 12 in Rio on ?? June 2014. These tickets could be on sale a year ahead.
FIFA also have specifc 'follow my team' tickets where you will be allocated a ticket for a chosen country regardless of where they play...just remember how big Brazil is as this could involve a lot of travelling. I got my tickets from the England FA as I am a member of their supporters club. I was allocated tickets for all England match. Each country has an allocation to distribute amongst their fans so if you wanted to follow the US (for example) you would need to find out how they distribute their tickets. I assume the US have a supporters club or something like that. In England, you get points for going to friendlies and qualifying matches so these count towards getting tickets for a tournament. However, I know Sweden just did first come, first served for Germany in 2006. Its difficult to know how tickets will work out in Brazil. In Rustenburg for the England v USA match, you could get them for face value outside the stadium. A lot of US fans had applied for as many as they could get and were stuck with them. Match tickets are normally expensive for tournaments. The cheapest tickets to foreign fans for the group matches was 80USD and prices went up from there. I had to pay for a single Cat 3 (lowest) for each potential England game; 3 group matches, Last 16, QF, SF and Final. The total cost, including FIFA's 10% admin charge, was around 730GBP. I will be refunded for the tickets that weren't needed. I would say that anyone seriously wanting to go to Brazil would need to save at least 100USD per month starting right now for the next 4 years. Brazil can be a dangerous place and I think flights and accommodation will be expensive. ![]() Mandy felt Brian's wrath when she wandered in front of him after they'd announced free beer at the bar..... |
